The mission of the Royston Public Library is to provide organized access to information and services for all citizens of Royston, Franklin County, and beyond in order to meet their educational, recreational, social, and cultural needs. Monday & Friday: 10am-6pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 10am-8pm

Hey Teens! Our teen programs have a new time starting in September; they will now start at 5:00 P.M.!

🦞🏒 ROCKING & READING CHALLENGE! 🏒 🦞

The Athens Rock Lobsters' hockey team is hosting a reading challenge for school-aged readers to earn prizes for their reading! Come by the Royston Public Library to pick up a reading log and track your rocking reading adventures!

These are the milestones and prizes associated with them:
250 minutes read- Rock Lobsters bookmark (co-branded with Fox’s Pizza)
500 minutes read- coupon/voucher for one of our partner locations
750 minutes read- free ticket to readers' choice of 11/21 or 12/11 ARL home game
1,000 minutes read- free ticket to readers' choice of a game in February or March

Turn in your logs at the library so we can record your reading! This rocking reading challenge finishes on December 20, 2026.

Here are the upcoming events at the Royston Public Library for the week of August 31st - September 4th, 2026!

Thursday, September 3rd, is jam-packed with fun activities!
📖First, we have our Storytime at 11:00 AM!

🤘🎨Then, at 4:00 PM, our Teen Program will be "rocking" out by painting rocks!

🧶Last but not least, we'll "wrap" the day off with our Fiber Arts Yarn Circle crochet club at 6:00 PM! Crocheters and crafters of all levels are welcome!

"Check out" all of the things you can do at your local library!

Also, until December 20, 2026, the Athens Rock Lobster hockey team has a reading challenge for school-aged readers! Earn prizes for reading 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 minutes!

Here are the upcoming events at the Royston Public Library for the week of August 17th-21st, 2026!

🔬Monday, August 17th, is our Ace's STEM Squad! This free, educational program is for grades K through 6, and we'll learn about science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and more!

Thursday, August 20th, is jam-packed with fun activities!
📖First, we have our Storytime at 11:00 AM!
✅Then, at 4:00 PM, our next Adulting 101 program for teens will feature our friends at the North Georgia Credit Union teaching all about checking accounts!

The Royston Public Library has NEW Read-Along titles available for check out! Read-Alongs are books that read along with you! They are each loaded with fully voiced players, so you can hear the words as you read them! We have board books for our youngest readers, and chapter books for our more grown-up readers!

Summer Reading Memories conclude at the Royston Public Library! This week, we highlight some of our special guests who visited during our Summer Reading Program!

The leftmost photos show the two dinosaurs we had visit the library, Sunny the Saveasaurus from the North Georgia Credit Union, and Reggie the Raptor from Out of the Box Education.

The top-right photo shows magician extraordinaire Keith Karnok with two volunteers helping out with a magic trick. The bottom-right photo shows a child grabbing a sampling of vegetables to see if they are an herbivore or a carnivore during our Dentist and Chef dinosaur program. Dr. Thomas Twilley from T. Dale Twilley DDS came with a dinosaur friend and showed proper dental care and toothbrushing etiquette, and Kelley from The Old Corner Hardware Store taught about the difference between herbivores and carnivores.

Our 2026 Summer Reading Program has concluded, and we want to thank everyone who attended, promoted, donated, and volunteered to make this summer fantastic!!

Here are the upcoming events happening at the Royston Public Library for the week of August 10th-14th, 2026!

~ADULT PLAYDATE~
Join us on Monday, August 10, 20206, at 3:30 P.M. for a creative day of pour painting! Registration is required for this class, and we are already at capacity, but you can go ahead and sign up for our September Adult PlayDate, rock painting!
~STORYTIME~
Every Thursday at 11:00 A.M., we have our preschool Storytime with songs, stories, and crafts!
~TEEN PROGRAM~
On Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 4:00 P.M., we invite Teens to bring items that are dear or cool to them and share them with us for a special Show & Tell!
~FIBER ARTS YARN CIRCLE~
Every Thursday at 6:00 P.M., we invite crocheters of all skill levels to join us to either continue a project they're working on or get inspiration for a new fiber art project! We have an instructor on-site, so if you're looking to learn the craft, come get crafty with us!
~WE ARE HIRING!~
We have a part-time, 10-hour-per-week position to help facilitate the day-to-day duties of the library, as well as a part-time, salaried Library Manager position that will work with the Franklin County Libraries Manager to run the operations of the Royston Public Library!
