Spring-Ford Education Association SFEA serves as the voice for the education professionals and the students of the Spring-Ford Area School District.

We believe that an excellent education creates informed and active citizens, and thus is a priority for the entire community. The members of SFEA possess experience and expertise, allowing us to serve as the local authority on public education. With integrity we will continue to vigorously advocate for our students and educators.

Welcome Back to School! 📚🍎

SFEA wishes for all members of the Spring-Ford community a wonderful start to the new school year!

To our students: We’re excited to see you back in the classrooms, hallways, labs, fields, and activities that make our schools such vibrant places to learn and grow. We hope this year brings new friendships, new opportunities, and plenty of reasons to be proud of yourselves.

To our parents and families: Thank you for the encouragement, support, and partnership you provide every day. Your involvement makes a tremendous difference in the lives of our students.

And to our teachers, counselors, nurses, office & building staff members, administrators, and school board: Thank you for everything you do to make our schools welcoming, safe, and inspiring places for young people. Your dedication matters.

Mrs. McGranahan (Director of Orchestras) and her family participated in a mission trip during the last week of July. While in Morgantown, West Virginia they & their group completed 13 jobs including replacing a damaged floor, fixing wheelchair ramps, & replacing a deck. They installed drywall for a family so their daughter (currently at basic training) can have her own space when she returns home in a few weeks. They also replaced a roof, cleaned up community gardens, worked in food pantries, & visited a nursing home. We appreciate your acts of service! 🛠️🪚💪🏻

SFEA member Sarah Pinard had the opportunity to visit Morocco this summer. Her annual 8th grade reading curriculum includes a story in which the setting starts in Morocco. She says, “I’m excited to have some first hand knowledge to share when we next read this story.” Her students will benefit from her real-world experience!

Alicia Buckley, 10-12 English teacher (pictured on the left), has been volunteering at Integrate for Good's summer program! The program provides transition services for differently-abled young adults in the area. They have been focusing on executive functioning and emotional regulation skills in particular. https://www.facebook.com/integrateforgood

During the second week of summer break, Mrs. Fritsch volunteered her time as a camp counselor at The Barn at Spring Brook Farm.

The Barn at Spring Brook Farm, currently celebrating their 20th year, is a non-profit organization, located in West Chester, Pennsylvania, whose mission is to enrich the developmental skills and lives of children with disabilities through animal-assisted and nature-based experiences. https://www.facebook.com/TheBarnatSpringBrookFarm

Camp Geronimo provides traditional camp favorites while including animal-assisted activities, outdoor play, and water play to students with various disabilities. The camp consists of 16 campers pairing them each with a minimum of one counselor to guide and help them through the week. All activities are designed to be flexible and accessible, allowing every child to participate in ways that feel comfortable, safe, meaningful, and fun.

It was a great week and Mrs. Fritsch can’t wait to return for a second week of camp later in the summer. She wishes everyone could experience a week at the camp—a powerful testament to the acceptance and community-wide inclusion we should all strive for.

Congratulations to Lisa Pupo on her retirement! Mrs. Pupo taught 11th and 12th grade students at Spring-Ford High School for 32.89 years in the English and Social Studies departments. Her favorite memory from Spring-Ford was the time a student brought the most adorable miniature horse to school for a speech. In retirement, Lisa plans to travel, travel, and travel.

Congratulations to Amy Culp on her retirement! Ms. Culp spent 21 of her 30 teaching years here at Spring-Ford. In retirement, Amy will still bleed blue and gold by continuing to coach Cross Country and Unified Track for the district. She will still find time to enjoy new adventures like backpacking in Thailand.

Spring City Elementary participated in the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation School Wellness Initiative and Wellness Checklist Challenge, which promotes cultures of health and wellness in schools — and the results are in… SCE earned FIRST PLACE out of 42 neighboring schools for the 2025–2026 school year! 🏆🎉

This marks the second time Spring City Elementary has taken the top spot and earned funding to support health and wellness initiatives for SCE students. This achievement reflects the care, positivity, and teamwork shown by the SCE staff each day as they promote healthy habits and support student wellness.

Way to go, SCE! 💙👏💛

Volunteers from SFEA gathered after school at Brooke Elementary to assemble Hug Boxes for the Julia’s Grace Foundation. 💙📦

Named in honor of Julia Grace Eveland, who passed away from cancer in 2013, the foundation was created to keep Julia’s generous spirit alive. Hug Boxes are inspired by Julia’s list of things to do when feeling down or blue and are sent to children’s hospitals across the country, where social workers can share them with children who may need a smile. 😊

We are grateful to our volunteers for helping spread kindness, comfort, and a little extra joy to children in need.

This time of year, if you’re walking around the 8th Grade Center and peek into an English classroom, you might think you’ve arrived at a vacation destination! 🌴📚 SFEA members and 8th grade English teachers Keri Brennan, Rebecca Gluck, Kelly Grant, Jake Homan, Meghan Mozi, Claudia Tangradi, and Rhiannon Zimmerman have transformed their classrooms into a tropical paradise as students journey through "Lord of the Flies" and wrestle with William Golding’s poignant, thought-provoking allegory. But don’t let the tropical colors fool you—there’s much more happening on this island than first meets the eye! 👀✨
