GrowingGreat Veggies and Fruits in action! 💥
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry recently integrated the Three Sisters Garden activity into their Soil Science class. Students began class with an introductory lesson on the scientific breakdown of soil, the role it plays in growing our food, and the importance of maintaining soil nutrient content. They then learned different planting techniques, and practiced how to arrange the seeds in a pot to help each other grow. Students drew a “map” based on their pot and plotted out where each vegetable seed would be planted. 🌱
Then they learned about the Three Sisters planting technique and planted their own set! Afterwards students enjoyed a snack of the “Succotash Salad” from delmonte.com. Click the link in our bio to get the recipe for yourself!

Thanks to Del Monte’s partnership, our impact will increase by over 50,000 children, parents and teachers through the activation of programs at science centers and children's museums, zoos, and school partnerships in addition to Mount Diablo and Los Angeles Unified School Districts. Based on annual attendance, the indirect impact would total over 5.6 million museum visitors alone nationwide!

The GrowingGreat Veggies & Fruits STEM Education Program was designed to bring garden education and scientific inquiry to kids across the country by partnering with science centers, children’s museums, and zoos. Do you know of an organization that would like to host these types of programs but lacks access to an outdoor space?
We will be sharing a free webinar that teaches techniques and programs that can be performed indoors, along with seven hands-on STEM, garden, and nutrition activities designed for kids from pre-k to 5th grade.
This webinar will be held on March 24 at 10am PT. It will be the first of a three-part series so if you’re interested, send us a DM and we’ll send you a link to register!

According to the Produce for Better Health Foundation, we need to eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables daily.
Another way to ensure you’re getting your servings in is to fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables at every meal. GrowingGreat students learn to read labels at the grocery store and look for the fewest ingredients. 🥑🍓🥒🍅🥬
