MEET JARED BLACK ✂️🎓

Barbering changed Jared’s life, just like it has for so many of us at Tailored; and he is one of Tailored’s greatest success stories.

Today, Jared is a Master Barber and Instructor with Tailored Barbering Academy and Tailored Barber Co., but what really speaks for him is his track record.

Over the last 4 years, Jared has personally mentored 7 barber apprentices:

🔥 7 passed their state board exams
🔥 All 7 are now working in the barbering industry

Jared doesn’t just teach barbering he teaches from real experience. He knows what it takes to learn the craft, build a clientele, pass your boards, and turn barbering into a career.

Joe’s journey into barbering is a huge part of why we’ve poured the last year into building Tailored Academy. 💈

With Utah’s new 130-hour Barber Permit Program, our focus has been simple: create the best education and resources we can for the students coming through it.

We don’t make the rules, we just follow them. Our job is to take the 130 hours we’re given and make every one of them count.

That’s why we’ve spent the last year developing a full curriculum, course material, exam prep, resources and real-world education designed specifically for this program.

Yes, we want our students prepared to pass their state exam; but we also want them learning things they can actually carry with them into their career behind the chair.

Joe has spent years in this industry, and that experience has played a huge role in how we’ve built this program and what we believe our students need to be successful.

We’re excited to finally bring it all to life. 💈🔥

MEET ANTHONY FLORES! 🔥✂️🎓

Anthony will be one of our instructors at Tailored Academy, and this one just makes sense.

Anthony has been part of the Tailored family for almost 5 years and has worn A LOT of hats along the way. He’s been a licensed barber instructor since 2024, has helped train and mentor numerous apprentices who went on to become fully licensed barbers, and has played a huge role in helping us grow Tailored into what it is today.

When we opened Tailored II in Ogden in 2024, Anthony stepped up and ran that shop until 2026, when we expanded our Roy location and brought both Tailored teams back home under one roof. He has also served as Assistant Manager at Tailored Roy, helping lead our team, mentor newer barbers, and keep this crazy Tailored train moving. 😂🔥

Anthony doesn’t just know how to cut hair — he knows this INDUSTRY. He knows what it takes to build a clientele, make money behind the chair, grow as a professional, lead a team, and turn barbering into an actual career.

And THAT is exactly the kind of experience we want our students learning from.

At Tailored Academy, we don’t want instructors who can only teach what’s in a textbook. We want professionals who have done the work, built the clientele, made the mistakes, learned the lessons, trained other barbers, led teams, and found success in this industry.

Anthony has done all of that. 💯

WELCOME ELI + COLE to the Barber Permit Program at Tailored Academy! 💈🔥

We are SO excited to have these two young hustlers at Tailored. Both are coming in hungry, motivated, and ready to WORK — and we can’t wait to watch what they do over their 130 hours!

💈 ELI
Eli just turned 16 in May and has literally been waiting to turn 16 so he could join the program! He’s spent the last year preparing from home and has already started building a clientele for himself while going to high school.

And when we say this kid has HUSTLE… he also owns a landscaping company servicing 30 residential clients AND 3 gas stations. 🤯 He plans to graduate high school early so he can jump into his barbering career ASAP.

We LOVE Eli’s drive. At 16, he’s already 🔥 and just getting started.

💈 COLE
Cole is 18 and just graduated high school! After watching Dax’s drive and success as a barber, Cole was inspired to get into the industry himself — and now he’s ready to put in the work.

We’re excited to pour into Cole over the next 130 hours, watch his skills develop, and see where he takes this opportunity!

MEET JULIAN 👋🏼✂️📚

Julian will be one of our instructors at Tailored Academy when we officially open our doors — and his story is exactly why we’re building this Academy in the first place.

Under Utah’s current instructor requirements, Julian is not yet a licensed barber instructor. And that’s the point.

We’re opening Tailored Academy to help remove the roadblocks for experienced professionals who are ready to step into education. No gatekeeping here. 🙌🏼

Julian and Joe plan to be among the first students in Tailored Academy’s Instructor Program, completing the education hours required by DOPL on their path to becoming licensed instructors at the Academy.

And if you know Julian, you already know he was made for this.

Julian has been part of the Tailored family for almost 8 YEARS. He’s a Master Barber with the experience, skill, and real-world knowledge of what it takes to build a successful career behind the chair. But what makes him especially valuable as an educator is his leadership.

For the last 4 years, Julian has served as a manager at Tailored, helping lead our team, mentor developing barbers, build confidence, troubleshoot behind the chair, and help mold the next generation of professionals.

He’s already been teaching for years; now we’re helping him earn the credential to make it official. 👏🏼

Because at Tailored Academy, we don’t just want to create great barbers.

We want to create great professionals, mentors, educators, and LEADERS.

Now we’re ready whenever DOPL is. 😂👏🏼 The rule has cleared another major step in the process, and we anticipate roughly 60 days before we can begin moving forward with the next steps.

Every child deserves to walk into the first day of school with confidence. 💙✂️

At Tailored, we’ve learned that what happens in a barber chair is about so much more than a haircut. It’s about feeling seen, feeling valued, and believing in yourself.

That’s why we’re launching The Confidence Project—our Anti-Bullying Initiative.

On Monday, August 17th, we’re opening our doors to provide FREE back-to-school haircuts for 7th–12th graders.
