Pastoral Care and Counseling Seminar (Virtual)

Professors: Dr. Alan Gore, DTh, KBSOT - Dean of Students
Pastor Matt McFarlin, MDiv., BCC - KBSOT Adjunct Professor

Dr. Gore and Pastor McFarlin bring years of experience in chaplaincy and practical ministry counseling, offering both theological depth and real-world application.

This 6-week (12-hour total) Pastoral Care and Counseling course is designed to equip pastors, lay leaders, and ministry workers with foundational skills for effective care. Participants will explore key principles of pastoral care, develop practical helping skills, and engage in theological reflection and ethical considerations for ministry.

Through this course, participants will:
✅ Strengthen listening and presence skills
✅ Grow in self-awareness and pastoral sensitivity
✅ Learn how to respond to real-life situations with wisdom and compassion
✅ Develop confidence in offering compassionate, Christ-centered care

This accelerated mini-session creates a learning environment that emphasizes pastoral presence, compassionate engagement, and thoughtful, ethical responses in ministry contexts.
