Team/Families,
I am so proud of our athletes.
If you’re a runner, then you know—some days, running feels easy and some days are so hard it feels like you’re just beginning.
That’s the thing about being a runner: it isn’t about every run being easy or every race being your best, we cannot always be at our best. It’s about showing up, giving it what you can that day…and, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART…never giving up. Staying the course” as they say.
I am a runner. On some days I have “crazy stamina” (to quote little Owen H.), and can easily run 7 miles. On other days, running 2 miles feels miserable (kind of like golf 😁).
I love running, I know that some of my athletes love running as well, however, most of my athletes do not love to run as I do…regardless, they should ALL be commended for their hard work and commitment. I don’t know their reasons for showing up everyday at practice, but I am so grateful that they do!
If you’re not a runner, take my word for it….it is hard. It is especially difficult when it is hot, it is difficult after sitting in school all day, it is difficult when you play another sport…it is difficult constantly chasing your best time and trying to surpass it. Please continue being your athletes’ biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. Thank you for encouraging them and understanding they will have great days and not so great days. On those great days they feel invincible! On those not so great days, most are far more disappointed in their performance than us adults could ever be.
Thank you families for being there for our team. Thank you for cheering on your athlete and their teammates. There’s something about running…..the sweating, the puking, the odor 🙂, the highs, the lows, the celebrations, the disappointments….that makes us vulnerable and brings us closer. I love it! This life of running. I’m hoping/trying to make your athlete love it too😍.
Enjoy Your Weekend Friends,
Coach
