I have some exciting news to share with my students! I have been accepted as an instructor in the Rio for Schools program! This means I get to pass on Rio Wholesale customer benefits to you for 6 months! Let me know who’s interested and I will give you a code to use when you place an order with Rio.

As some of you may know, I am currently in Florida until April. I am in the process of setting up my studio here. Once I’m settled, I will be teaching here. I also plan to film some simple tutorials to share with you back home while I’m away. I’d love some feedback about any techniques in particular you’d like me to demonstrate!

This is my beautiful friend and student Mary! We’ve been exploring torch fired enameling together over the past several weeks and we are both learning so much! Mary is wearing a pendant I made using the technique of drawing with graphite (pencil) on enamel. This week we explored clear crackle. In the third photo, you see the result of firing a layer of opaque color, then firing a coat of clear crackle, and finally applying a coat of liquid enamel, which is allowed to dry and then fired underneath and then on top to get this cool effect. The final photo is a piece in which I fired on multiple successive layers of opaque and transparent enamels, and then did a final firing using separation enamel. I’ve done enameling for years, and I still learn something new every time. So much fun!

A recent long distance sale. (This one is going to Idaho.) The process is a flurry of texts and sketches. Almost as good as sitting down with someone to work out a piece that will please a customer! Roller printed with a detail from “Zentangle,” a plate from Oregon Trail Silver. Larimar paired with a small faceted Mexican opal. She briefly considered using a Labradorite as the focal.
