This is what our classroom looks like for many of our students this week.

Each year, our D group, Middle School, and High School students head to the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Vermont for a few days of learning that looks a little different from the usual school day.

Our younger students spend the full week at Hulbert, while our older students alternate between the first and second half of the week. They hike, try archery, navigate challenge courses, practice outdoor skills, take on team challenges—and spend a lot of time figuring things out together.

Because the point isn't just the activity.

It's what happens when something is hard. When a plan doesn't work. When you need to ask for help. When you have to communicate with someone who approaches a challenge differently than you do. When you realize you can do something you weren't sure you could.

Those moments build confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and trust.

At Clark, we believe learning happens everywhere—and that knowing yourself, knowing how to work with others, and knowing what you're capable of are just as important as what you learn from a textbook.

Parents, you can follow along by viewing photos from the week on our Week-at-a-Glance site! More details coming via email.

What makes high school at Clark different?

For some students, the traditional high school experience just isn’t the right fit. At Clark, we’ve built something different — with the flexibility, support and opportunities that allow students to learn in ways that work for them.

5 things that make Clark High School different:

→ Small class sizes + individualized curriculum
Students are known by their teachers, and learning can be tailored to their needs, strengths and goals.

→ Future planning + senior internships
Students begin thinking about life after Clark early, with opportunities to explore interests and gain real-world experience through senior internships.

→ Project-based learning
Students don’t just learn about something — they have opportunities to dig in, create, investigate and apply what they’re learning.

→ Social-emotional support
Relationships matter here. Students have access to support that helps them build confidence, self-awareness and the skills they need to navigate high school.

→ Engaging specials
Art, theater, music and technology give students meaningful ways to explore their interests and discover new ones.
