Our deepest condolences to those who knew Sara best. She was one of a kind-- an incredible champion for students, and teachers alike-- and always quick to give you a smile. Our world has lost an amazing friend to all. Sara will be dearly missed.

Dear TAEA Members,

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Sara Chapman, this past weekend.

Sara was a devoted art educator, passionate arts advocate and a cherished member of TAEA. During her time as TAEA Executive Director, she inspired students, mentored fellow educators, and played a vital role in advancing our shared mission in promoting visual arts education across Texas and around the world. Without a doubt, Sara made a lasting impact, leaving her “mark” in history and championing the value of art education for all.

Sara’s warmth, creativity, and unwavering commitment to arts education and the art education community will be deeply missed. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched and the enduring love she had for the arts.

Please join us in keeping her family, friends, fellow educators and former students in your thoughts during this difficult time. We will share information about memorial services or ways to honor Sara’s memory as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Linh Nguyen
