On Thursday, we wear pink! October is breast cancer awareness month, and faculty, staff, and students are invited to wear pink Thursday, Oct. 15!

Any clothing not pink in color should be in uniform (so uniform bottoms are required unless they are pink; it’s not a free dress day. If pink, it should be school appropriate. No leggings unless under shorts/skirt/dress).

Meridian Spotlight: The arts are strong this month! Three original Texas-themed paintings by 10th grade student Sidney D. are on display at the Texas Capitol building through October.

State Representative John Bucy, whose district includes Meridian World School, reached out to Meridian to showcase a student's artwork as part of a rotating local artist gallery on display in his office at the Capitol. Themes typically include something meaningful to the artist, like a celebration of the artists' heritage or culture, Texas history, or wildlife.

Sidney chose three paintings that celebrated memories of her childhood, rooted here in Texas. Two feature local institutions, Round Rock Garden Center and Juarez Restaurant & Bakery, and the third depicts a trip to a Texas beach.

Check out two recent collaborative art projects that encouraged students to work together to create cohesive installations!

Fourth graders worked together to create collaborative collage pieces on display in primary. Each piece is unique, based on the students' interests!

Students in MYP Art 2 class installed oversized collaborative portraits in the second floor of the high school wing. The 10th and 11th graders worked in groups of four. They each drew one of their own facial features, to combine into a face. students worked together to create the layout of each portrait before installing the finished pieces in the High School.
