I’m so glad to be out of this insurance billing nightmare 😅 I really love my full time job where I’m at and I have no plans of leaving.
But if I ever go back to it, I would get some better guidance!

Some of you have been messaging me, and I am so honored you value my personal and professional opinions 🥹

A real question I've received:
So, why am I sharing about a workshop from someone who openly doesn't believe in ADHD or neurodivergence or the power of behavior science? 🤷‍♀️

1) Montessori Teachers need ALL the help they can get! (I too was about to take this certification course at MISD before it was discontinued years ago!) Please attend and let me know how awesome it is!

2) For those of us who do study the science of behavior, we see it in everything as clearly as a Montessori teacher can see a child in deep concentration from across the room 🎉
We have a compassion and clarity we didn't have before as a regular teacher - Empowered to empower our learners of any age. They just don't include those behavioral things in teacher trainings.

3) Some people's entire livelihood and identity revolves around one singular thing, and life is too short to waste our time arguing a case to people who don't care; I'd rather spend my valuable time and energy helping those who do 💃

4) There is no doubt you will walk away with some useful tips and maybe even be inspired by many professional development workshops rather than actual certification training and mentorship - Please do so! I would take this training too if I had time but I am already working around the clock with children and families locally and thousands of miles away across the world who need the most help....

Yes, the ones who Dr. Maria Montessori herself worked with. Studied.
More like, Experimented.

You know, the children in medical institutions because she was a medical doctor and was the first to integrate the medical model with education before they split?

Montessori education was borne of the medical model - they are inseparable.

Dare I say, the ABA clinics and centers of the world are the very places Dr. Montessori would have her start were she here with us today.

oh, ouch.
Is it because we send children with extreme and severe behavioral needs away from our Montessori schools?

Why?
The children are not fit for our pristine and Prepared Environments?
or because the teachers don't have the scientific, medical, and behavioral training to work with any and every child?

I know of an entire field who can! 🎉

🛑 Please stop hiring outside behavior specialists who don't know our work, and sending children away from your Montessori schools and classrooms! It will be so much easier if you just learn the science yourself 😅

📢 2027 CPT® Codes for ABA Services Are Here

The American Medical Association (AMA) has officially released the 2027 CPT® code set, including important updates to the codes used to report adaptive behavior services.

The updated code set includes six new CPT codes for adaptive behavior services, along with revisions to existing codes. The new and revised codes will take effect January 1, 2027.

Among the updates are new codes addressing:
🔹 Assessment and treatment of harmful behavior involving multiple technicians
🔹 Non-face-to-face services performed by a qualified health care professional, including data review, clinical decision-making, treatment modifications, transition/discharge planning, and technician training
🔹 Adaptive behavior treatment with analysis provided directly by a qualified health care professional

With implementation approaching, ABA providers, billers, payers, and other stakeholders should begin familiarizing themselves with the updated code set and accompanying guidance.

📣 For anyone using early intervention assessments like the Vineland or VB-MAPP required by insurance payers as gold standard assessments:

What materials are you using for those direct observations?

For YEARS, we used our Montessori materials like these Dressing Frames to assess our Tier 3 Montessori children’s milestones, strengths, & abilities 🎉

Whereas most ABA centers have a box or even a room full of plastic toys for assessment materials, our entire Montessori classrooms were designed by Dr. Montessori herself to run scientific experiments on children 🤯

Yes!
You can do any of those developmental assessments using the Montessori materials in a regular Montessori classroom setup - It’s almost as if she was assessing the same things 🤔

🎉🎉🎉 I originally set out to become an expert in twice-exceptionalities when my son was diagnosed in 3rd grade.

I joined the NAGC and attended parent groups and the TAGT conferences and read everything I could about asynchronicities - (aside from living them my entire life!) 😅

I toured private schools in the Austin area, and the only one who even came close was way out of our budget and the commute was +45minutes in rush hour traffic.

In hindsight, it would probably saved us $$$$ thousands if we could have figured out a way to nurture his neurodivergence at that age ✨

So I set out to help others!

I thought the therapy center approach would work to give parents more flexibility over their schedules but it turns out parents are searching for school and routine, not flexibility ✨

So my next big venture will be a legit SCHOOL but I need to save up for another 10 years or get funding ❤️‍🩹

For now, go find a school that will support your child!
