This week's adventure was a trip up to Cartersville, GA... not to the Savoy Auto Museum (which we can't wait to check out!) - but to the Northwest Georgia RESA STEM Forum. It was wonderful, and we learned a TON about how we can better support our educators. Many thanks to Brenda Moss and Robin Morrow for welcoming us and providing such thoughtful guidance and insight. 💛
Also it was so fun to meet a kindred soul - Ronnie Thomas - definitely check out his company Fun Weird Science! We're very much looking forward to our paths crossing again as we all work to bring amazing educational experiences to our community!!

Have you heard of STEMapalooza hosted by Cobb County Schools??? We're so excited to have a booth this year. We've started on what we think will be a really cool setup. We'll keep you posted with progress pics
If you plan to attend this year's STEMapalooza this June 4-5, please stop by and check us out!

Such a great way to spend a Saturday - Rally Point Grille/Semper Fi Bar and Grille for their annual Veterans Block Party! Our first time "tabling".

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Maker Lab Kids will teach a week-long 3D Design & Printing workshop at the Mountain View Regional Library this summer, and your kids are invited!
Dates: June 8-12
Time: 3:30 - 5pm
Ages: 9-13
Cost: FREE
They've limited the class size to ~10-12 students, so sign up soon.
How to Register: It seems that the library posted every session individually, so unfortunately you'll have to sign up for each day (instead of once for the whole week). Our instruction is intended to build upon the prior day's learning, allowing the students to advance to more complex designs by the end of the week. So please sign-up for all 5 sessions!
Search to find all sessions: https://www.cobbcounty.gov/events?fromDate=2026-06-08&toDate=2026-06-12&page=0&search=maker+lab+kids
(Filtering by the Mountain View location won't work since they have the physical address tagged for the location instead of the library branch.)

Check out a new addition to our community - Celebree School of East Cobb. We met the lovely owner, Farwa, and learned they'd started up just a few months before we did. It's exciting to see both of our companies growing!
Unfortunately we are unable to participate in their open house this Saturday, but Mr. Rocket Man certainly stepped up to the challenge of "let's showcase our company in a unique way"!

Just 3 days away.
Every year, we set aside one day to simply say thank you to the veterans in our community — not just for their service, but for the example they continue to set long after the uniform comes off.
Our Annual Veteran Block Party is this Friday, and everyone is welcome.
• Free meal for all veterans
• Veteran Business Expo
• Honor Ceremony recognizing all branches of service
• Family friendly and open to the entire community
A special thank you to Georgia Funeral Care, Reliable Paper, US Foods, Car Corner and the Greenwood Girls for helping make this possible.
If you know a veteran, invite them. If you are a veteran, we would be honored to serve you.

Well our first rockets with an entire grade level is now in the books, and it was very educational. Kids had a blast, and we have a ton of lessons learned. Most importantly is to drastically scale back the expectations of what measurements 4th graders can perform with numerous distractions. Our 1st batch of 2 classes was quite chaotic, but with our 2nd batch we adopted the "launch and run first" approach, which yielded a much more fun environment, and allowed a curious few to test out the altitude & time tracker stations. We're gathering our lessons learned and look forward to the "after action debrief" with our partners. 👩🏫🚀

What a spectacular Saturday we had with Cub Scout Pack 571!!! 2 launchers, 3 assembly tables, and an altitude / timing station... plus some of the most courteous and inquisitive young scientists we could hope for.
Thank you Angie for allowing us to spend the afternoon with your pack!

Custom altitude trackers - cheaper to make than buy, larger text so they're easier for the kiddos to read, and dual-sided to support both 100 and 150 (ft or m - either works) tracking distance.

Arts & crafts at the home office. Prepping for rockets with our nearby 4th graders. Probably will be rained out Thursday morning, but we'll be ready just in case.

*PG-13 Rating*
You may know Quincy L. Acklen for rockets and makerspaces, but did you also know he was a Marine? So when the Marine Corps League of Woodstock Georgia needed a golf ball launcher for their charity golf tournament... the *only logical conclusion* was to create an M4 Carl Gustaf inspired launcher.
The design has actually been fairly challenging - not because of the physics - but because of space constraints. Making all of the pipe turns and bends inside a not-too-large tube necessitated quite a few trips to The Home Depot. (Resulting in some very pointed questions from concerned Home Depot plumbing associates.)
The endeavor was a HUGE success! Nothing but rave reviews at Monday's outing with lots of $$ raised for a great cause. And although we couldn't quite pull off the M4 styling, we're very pleased with the distance, accuracy, and fun-factor of our first edition!
