Alexsander Academy is an academically focused school for children with LD, ADHD, Aspergers, autism spectrum disorders and other learning issues.

We serve students in grades 1st-8th in our elementary/middle school program and 6th - 12th+ in our middle/high school remediation program. We believe our students learn best when taught based on their own individual needs. We work hard to help them see how capable they are and to help them believe in themselves and their own abilities!

As you know Alexsander Academy is a small school that serves students with learning challenges and special needs that slip thorough the cracks in other school environments, but you may not know that we have been helping these children and their families for over 17 years. In that time hundreds of children and their families have been supported by the work we do at our small school. It amazing to know that in our almost two decades of work that we have helped so many children to learn and grow. We may have even helped a child that you know and care about.

But we cannot do this alone. We need the support of our community. That is why I am reaching out to you today to tell you about our scholarship program. This program helps our school to provide support to families in need. Can you believe that you can support this scholarship program and not have it cost you anything? It is true! The State of Georgia has a scholarship program that allows us as Georgia tax payers to chose how our tax dollars are spent. By making a donation to our scholarship organization, Georgia Student Support Organization, in the name of Alexsander Academy, the State of Georgia will give you back that money dollar for dollar when you file your taxes. This donation is still a donation even though the money gets credited back to you, so you can still use the donation for Federal and State charitable donation credits.

I know this sounds to good to be true, but it isn't. Those of you who have done this before know it works! You do have to be able to make the donation in one tax year and get the credit back in the following tax year, and you do have to follow the procedure required with the scholarship organization so that the donation is registered with the State so it is eligible for the credit but that is is it! If you are a taxpayer in Georgia that is all that is required to take advantage of this program. Not only are individuals able to make this donation and get a dollar for dollar credit back for the entire donation, businesses can also do this! As a business you are paying these taxes anyway. Now you get to decide how that money is spent. But the funding for this program is limited so you have to get your pledges into the scholarship organization as soon as possible. Once the funding for the program is gone it is gone. The funding is usually used up the very first day so it is important to make those pledges in December and early enough for the scholarship organization to get the paperwork started. They will accept pledges for donations until they cannot anymore so go to their website at www.georgiasso.com and make your pledge! Do not forget to do this in the name of Alexsander Academy! Many employers will also match the donation so please check to see if your donation is eligible!

You are receiving this letter because you have a connection to someone at our school, you have had a child or have known a child who has been at our school or you have made a scholarship donation in the past. Please consider making your pledge to support Alexsander Academy. If we have made a difference in the life of someone you know or care about, or if you care about helping children who have learning struggles to learn and grow toward independence, then please consider making your pledge to support our school today. It is the best way to pay it forward !

I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration in helping our school to continue to support the children we all love!

One way to help our school keep tuition costs low. There is a scholarship program of which our school is a part. It is the Georgia Student Scholarship Organization (GaSSO). This is based on a redirection of tax dollars to help minimize tuition costs to our students. Many companies will match your pledges. You would also qualify for a donation credit. To make a pledge go to the website www.georgiasso.us . Click on the Sign up for your 2024 GaSSO Tax Credit today square. Fill out the form and pick our school from the drop down menu. Submit. This is a pledge to make a donation after the first of the year 2024. If approved, you will receive a letter within the first 60 days of 2024. Then, you will go back on the website and make your donation. Couples can donate up to $5000 if filing jointly, individuals up to $2500 and small businesses up to $25,000.
So, ask your friends and family to make a pledge to help the students at our school before December 31st.

Our school does a couple Community Outreach projects each year. One that we have done multiple times for several years is with Treat the Troops. Usually 2 times a year, we collect cookies, candy, other goodies and write letters to go in the goodie boxes for the troops. The next packing is November 7th.
