Parenting often involves learning through experience, but having thoughtful guidance can transform uncertainty into a clearer sense of direction when you're not sure what to do.

What made the difference was not only the support their child received, but the guidance they received as parents. With practical strategies, encouragement, and a new way of approaching challenges, uncertainty gradually gave way to possibility.

Over time, they gained greater confidence in their ability to respond, adapt, and keep moving forward.

Sometimes the greatest gift is helping families realize there are more possibilities than they ever imagined.

Imagine a community where families don't have to choose between staying close to home and getting their child the care they actually need.

We looked at the data across our flagship site and first-year affiliate locations, and the outcomes were consistent across every single measured result. That's not an accident. It's what happens when teams are trained in the IWBMC™ with the right structure, the right tools, and real clinical support behind them. The training and the software are what make it possible to access the IWBMC™ anywhere in the world.

This is exactly why we invest so deeply in Ascend and AHAVA and building meaningful partnerships to be able to access this unique whole-brain model of care. If you know a family who's been waiting for this kind of program to exist closer to home, share this with them.

At Jacob’s Ladder, learning often happens through moments of curiosity, connection, and experiences that feel meaningful. Recently during Animal Enrichment, our Ladder group explored lessons in flexibility, trying new things, and observation through a goat food trial activity.

As clients introduced our goats to a variety of new foods, they weren’t just watching what the goats liked best - they were practicing calm bodies, safe hands, turn-taking, prediction skills, communication, and present-minded awareness along the way.

Sometimes growth looks like taking a chance on something new. Sometimes it looks like slowing down enough to notice, observe, and connect. And sometimes, some of the most meaningful lessons come with four legs and a little extra personality 🐐💚☀️

Because of the sacrifice of so many, we are able to do the work we love helping children grow, families heal, and hope take root in places that once felt impossible 🌿

As we gather with loved ones and enjoy the beauty of today, we pause with gratitude for those who gave everything so others could live, flourish, and dream freely 🇺🇸

We honor their legacy by continuing to show up with Hope, Truth, and Love ❤️

Preparing for the individuals and families we serve is something we take seriously.

Today our team spent the morning investing time into training, preparation, and thoughtful planning because every person who walks through our doors matters deeply to us.

And later, we spent time investing in each other.

Laughter, connection, and shared moments matter too. Because when a team feels supported and connected, that care naturally overflows into the lives of the families we serve.

Ready for summer. Ready for our clients. Ready to make a difference 💙

The body is not broken. It is waiting for what it truly needs.

For decades, our field has optimized for compliance, symptom reduction, and short-term behavioral outcomes. What it has underinvested in is the foundational science of healing - the neurobiological conditions under which the whole brain, and the whole person, actually reorganizes and grows.

Amy O'Dell, Founder & CEO of The Jacob's Ladder Group, has spent 30+ years building a methodology around exactly that. The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® has supported 43,000+ individuals, families and professionals, drawing on 1,300+ assessment metrics to understand and support whole-brain, whole-body development.

The outcomes are not anecdotal. They are documented. And they point to a clear gap between what the science says is possible - and what most children are currently receiving.

The work now is closing that gap, at scale.

If you're a clinician, educator, or organizational leader ready to explore what whole-brain care looks like in practice, AHAVA and Ascend were built for exactly that conversation.

Some moments of progress can be deeply personal.

What once felt distant gradually became part of daily life - small moments of closeness, trust, and calm that now mean everything to their family.

What makes these moments so powerful is not just the change itself, but what it represents: a renewed sense of safety, openness, and the ability to experience connection more fully.

Not every form of progress can be measured - some are simply felt and experienced.

Every step tells a story.

During a recent art enrichment session, clients participated in Paths of Joy - an outdoor, sensory-rich experience that combined expressive movement, painting, and an act of service. Students stepped into paint and created their own path across the canvas, building present-moment awareness, sensory integration, and emotional expression one footprint at a time.

Providers walked alongside them - offering physical support, co-regulation, and connection. And when the painting was done, they knelt down and washed their clients’ feet. A simple act. A powerful moment.

Today, that canvas is proudly displayed on our campus - a vibrant, living reminder that growth here is real, visible, and worth celebrating.

What if the answer to "problem behavior" isn't more structure - it's more safety?

In a pilot study using the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care®, children moved an average of 11.4 points toward the normal range on a widely used measure of behavior difficulties. Emotional control scores improved significantly - not because children were pushed harder, but because their nervous systems finally felt safe enough to change.

When the nervous system feels safe, behavior follows. That's not a philosophy. That's data.

💛 Staff Spotlight: Kendra

For Kendra, one of the most fulfilling parts of working at The Jacob’s Ladder Group is walking alongside families through both the beautiful moments and the difficult ones.

She recognizes that families often carry heavy realities, challenges, and uncertainties, and she feels honored to be someone they can trust and lean on during those seasons. Knowing that families can come in, share openly, and feel supported creates a level of connection that means so much to her.

Kendra values being part of a team that strives to be a source of peace and hope - showing up consistently for clients and families, giving their all, and reminding them they are never walking the journey alone. 💛
