LEAP is an innovative, non-degree program designed for students who want to strengthen their overall life skills in order to achieve independence. Applicants may be high school graduates or individuals who could benefit from job readiness training, life skill development, and scholastic support. The goal of this program is to produce independent young adults by helping them improve their job-related, social/ emotional, and communications skills. In LEAP, individuals are guided to set realistic, attainable goals as they develop a personal plan for living. LEAP fosters relationships with local businesses to help participants gain real-life job experience with the aim of obtaining employment upon completion of the program. Students join LEAP having graduated from private and public schools throughout the Atlanta metro area. Current students have a wide variety of skill sets and needs. LEAP evaluates each participant's specific skills and needs in order to help them create a plan for future success. Along with on-the-job training, LEAP participants attend classes on a daily basis. The classes that are offered allow students to further their education by developing important and necessary life, interpersonal, and daily living skills. Classroom instruction is from 12:45 - 2:30 for the full day program and 11:30 - 12:15 for the half day. The low student-to-teacher ratio allows personalized attention in the classroom and on the work sites. The classes cover aspects of personal finance, computer essentials, social skills, communication, and independent living.

Eaton Academy's Hands-On Tool Class was honored to partner with American Legion Post 201 on two meaningful projects as they prepare for America's 250th Celebration.

Our students took on the challenge of restoring nearly 20 picnic tables that had seen years of wear. Many had rotted wood, bowed and twisted tops, broken legs, and other significant damage. To keep costs down, the students carefully salvaged usable lumber from the tables that could not be saved and used those materials to repair the rest. They straightened warped tabletops, reinforced the frames, and finished each restored table with a minimum of two coats of stain. Their hard work gave these tables a new life for the community to enjoy.

The class also assisted with the construction of a new 9/11 Memorial. Students helped excavate and level a pentagon-shaped area approximately six inches deep to prepare for the installation of a stone memorial marker. The memorial will also feature broken concrete slabs representing the fallen Twin Towers and the damage to the Pentagon, creating a powerful place of remembrance and reflection.

These projects were completed during long, hot summer days, and our students never stopped giving their best. We are incredibly proud of their craftsmanship, teamwork, and willingness to serve the community.

Thank you to American Legion Post 201 for trusting our students with these important projects. Opportunities like these allow our students to build real-world skills while making a lasting impact.

Celebrating our amazing teachers

This Teacher Appreciation Week was a blast, thanks to Eaton Academy's Sunshine Committee! 🌟 From a nacho bar on Tuesday to a delightful catered Mexican lunch on Thursday, our teachers were truly spoiled. They enjoyed a breakfast spread on Wednesday and capped off the week with a gift card raffle and Aloha Ice Truck on Friday. Thank you, Sunshine Committee, for making our educators feel so special!
