High Meadows fourth and fifth graders were thrilled to partner with the Roswell Historical Society to share their learning around cultural preservation. Continuing the conversation beyond the classroom into the community is a great example of how High Meadows Students take action with their learning. Thank you to the Roswell Historical Society and Ms. Ismail for this connection opportunity!

School’s out for summer, but our teachers and staff are still hard at work at post-planning!

So… what happens at “post-planning”, anyway? Our faculty and staff spend a couple of days packing up, reflecting, planning, sharing laughs, writing narratives, and taking a deep breath after another fantastic year. We’ll finish up tomorrow with an end-of-year celebration!

What are you doing with your first days of summer vacation?

Recognition 2026 is in the books! We loved hearing personal reflections from each of our 8th grade graduates as they joined our wonderful alumni family this morning.

While today’s graduates are heading to a wide variety of high schools, they each carry forward with them the confidence, self-advocacy, academic skill, and care for others that are hallmark to High Meadows alumni. Each of them has left their own unique mark on High Meadows, and High Meadows remains a part of each of them.

Cheers to the class of 2026!

Today marked the last Community Gathering of the 2025-2026 school year!

Student leaders shared community acknowledgements and led the ever-popular ‘name that teacher’ game. Ms. Danielle and Ms. Carla also recognized the many community service activities our students of all ages have participated in this year.

Finally, a group of Middle Years students gave a special presentation thanking Mr. Nuttall for his service to HMS and each 8th grader shared where they will be headed off to high school next year.

We are so grateful for the High Meadows community and wish everyone a wonderful last day of school tomorrow!

Our 8th graders and their fearless chaperones returned from a week adventuring in Colorado yesterday. This annual trip provides time for our soon-to-be alumni to reflect on their High Meadows experience, to create final memories with their class, and to prepare for their transitions into high school.

While away, students hiked in the Rocky Mountains, prepared meals, toured museums, and worked on graduation speeches which will be shared at Friday's Recognition Ceremony.

We are so proud of you, class of 2026, and can't wait to celebrate you later this week!

We're incredibly sad to share that High Meadows School & Camp co-founder Jay Dickerson passed away last Tuesday, May 12 at the age of 96. After serving the school and camp for many years in a variety of roles, Jay remained profoundly connected both to High Meadows and his fellow founders over time.

Jay's legacy at High Meadows runs long and deep. His unique contributions to the creation of High Meadows, according to his co-founders, were his wilderness experience and passion for camp, adventure, and travel. In the early years of High Meadows, Jay, who was at the time teaching at Lovett and Westminster schools, led groups of High Meadows students on trips touring the Western national parks, skiing, canoeing through the Canadian Lake country, and hiking and camping in the Southern Appalachians. His impact on who High Meadows is today will not be forgotten.

High Meadows was Jay's family. In the weeks ahead, we will begin planning a Celebration of Life to honor his tremendous contributions to the school and camp we all know and love. We will share further details as soon as they are available.

If you have photos or stories you'd like to share about Jay, please send them to [email protected].
