Three Days. One Community. An Amazing Start to 8th Grade.

What a way to begin the year! Over the past three days, our 8th graders and teachers camped under the stars on the Meadow, cooked breakfast over open fires, climbed to new heights (literally!), enjoyed some pool time, and filled their days with team building, laughter, and connection.

But the 8th Grade Retreat is about more than adventure. Students explored leadership, relationships, and the beginning of their Capstone year, including identifying the traits of a good leader and developing their own personal leadership statements. At the heart of it all was one goal: growing as a community while learning to push beyond yourself.

We couldn’t ask for a better start to 8th grade. Here’s to a restful weekend and an amazing year ahead!

Where the Story Began: Mark Warren Returns to High Meadows

We’re excited to welcome award-winning author, educator, and longtime friend of High Meadows Mark Warren back to campus! Mark’s history with High Meadows goes back decades. Of his 50+ years as an educator, 17 were spent here at High Meadows, teaching outdoor programming at School and Camp and introducing weeklong excursions to the mountains. His experiences at High Meadows even helped inspire his Camp Itawa Mysteries trilogy!

Join us September 14 at 6:00 p.m. in Meadow Hall as Mark returns to a place that has played such an important role in his life and work for an evening of learning, storytelling, and discovery. We will also be celebrating the release of his latest book, A Dance in the Devil’s Rain.

Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend and help us welcome Mark back to High Meadows!

All Roads Led to High Meadows!

This summer, High Meadows was thrilled to welcome Disney’s Camp Rock 3 “All Roads Lead to Camp” Bus Tour for a very special day at camp!

We were incredibly grateful to be one of just eight summer camps nationwide selected for this initiative, bringing some national attention to the magic that happens every summer right here on our campus.

In collaboration with the American Camp Association, Disney brought the spirit of Camp Rock 3 to life while highlighting something we know well at High Meadows: camp matters. Camp gives young people a place to build confidence, discover new interests, form lasting friendships, create lifelong memories, and experience a true sense of belonging.

A very special thank you to Disney and the American Camp Association for selecting High Meadows to be part of this incredible initiative and experience; WSB-TV Channel 2 for covering the story and helping capture the magic of High Meadows; and, of course, our amazing campers and camp staff who brought the energy and made the day so much fun!

We were proud to share a little piece of High Meadows with a much bigger audience and even prouder to celebrate what makes the summer camp experience so special.

It’s electric!

Our 4th and 5th grade students kicked off their Energy unit of inquiry and put some energy (literally!) into learning. The morning was designed to get them moving, experimenting, questioning, and wondering in an epic event known as the 2026 Energy Olympics!

Students rotated through hands-on stations, exploring different forms of energy and seeing science come to life.

At the Chemical Energy station, students experimented with Mentos and Diet Coke and Alka-Seltzer and water, observing the reactions and considering how chemical energy can be transformed and released. And yes...more than just minds were blown by the results!

At the Mechanical Energy station, students headed to the archery range, where they experienced energy in action and explored how stored energy becomes motion when an arrow is released.

Throughout the Energy Olympics, students dove into hands-on activities that encouraged them to ask questions, make predictions, test their hypotheses, and, most importantly, think about why.

That’s what makes experiences like this so meaningful. Students aren’t simply learning about energy…they’re experiencing it, getting curious about it, and building real-world connections they can draw upon as their learning continues.

The Energy Olympics may have kicked off the unit, but the questions and discoveries are just getting started.

We’d say it was a blast... and we mean that literally! Thanks to the energetic volunteers who joined us and helped with the stations.

Last week, High Meadows had the pleasure of welcoming 50 leaders from the Roswell Inc. Nonprofit Leadership Academy to our campus!
Following an engaging session in Meadow Hall focused on nonprofit leadership, accounting, and audit best practices, our guests experienced what makes High Meadows truly unique with a guided tour of our 42-acre campus.
From our outdoor classrooms and iconic landmarks to visits with some of our favorite furry and feathered friends in the Barnyard, attendees had the opportunity to see firsthand how curiosity, community, and a connection to nature are woven into everything we do.
We are grateful to Roswell Inc. for the opportunity to host this outstanding group of nonprofit and business leaders and for the chance to share the High Meadows story. We always enjoy opening our campus to the community and look forward to welcoming many more visitors in the future!
