The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced its latest round of contract awards this week – 25 contracts totaling more than $85 million, including those that were part of the agency’s regular monthly issuance and those that were previously deferred.

At 43%, resurfacing projects made up the majority of contracts, followed by bridge construction (40%), bridge rehabilitation (9%), construction (6%) and safety (2%).

The largest contract totaled more than $21.3 million and went to F.S. Scarbrough LLC, which is based in Peachtree City, Georgia. As part of its scope of work, Scarbrough will build a bridge – totaling one mile, including approaches – along US 41/SR 11/SR 49 over Norfolk Southern Railway in Bibb County.

Scarbrough is expected to be complete with the project by April 30, 2027.

The GDOT also awarded a more than $7.5 million contract to Baldwin Paving Co. Inc., headquartered in Marietta, Georgia, for more than 9.5 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing along SR 20 in Gwinnett and Walton counties.

Baldwin is scheduled to complete that work by Sep. 30, 2025.

Other standard and deferred awards (rounded figures) include:

$5.1 million to The Scruggs Company in Hahira, Georgia, for bridge culvert replacement and construction of a bridge and approaches on US 221/SR 31/SR 64 over Hog Creek and Hog Creek Tributary in Atkinson County;
$4.9 million to Pittman Construction Company in Conyers, Georgia, for more than 6.6 miles of milling, inlay and plant mix resurfacing on SR 154 in DeKalb County, starting at the Fulton County line;
$4.5 million to Williams Contracting Company LLC in Duluth, Georgia, for bridge rehabilitation at multiple locations in Lamar County;
$4.4 million to E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. in Snellville, Georgia, for more than 4.6 miles of milling, plant mix resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation along US 1/SR 4 in Richmond County;
$4.4 million to Northwest Georgia Paving Inc. in Calhoun, Georgia, for more than five miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing along SR 61 in Murray County;
$4.3 million to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. in Marietta, Georgia, for construction of a roundabout on SR 1 in Chattahoochee County; and
$4.2 million to Reeves Construction Company in Duncan, South Carolina, for almost 13 miles of milling, plant mix resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation along SR 11 in Jones County.
These awards bring the total of GDOT contracts this fiscal year, which started July 1, 2024, to $802 million, the department said. This includes Transportation Investment Act-funded projects, design-bid-build and locally administered projects.
