We love seeing our kids shine at services! Thanks 3rd and 4th graders and March birthday for a great Friday. And thank you to our teachers for all they do!
The Mitzner Family Religious School is a Sunday-only program that meets during the school year. Students study both Hebrew and Judaics.

Our 6th and 7th grade families are helping to brainstorm what learning at Mitzner Family Religious School looks like beyond 7th grade! Excited to grow our school and keep our students engaged after B’nai Mitzvah for lifelong learning
We love when our students get to real mitzvot for our community! Thanks Erin and Bagel Rescue for leading our latest 7th grade family mitzvah project!

Grade Level Spotlight: 3rd Grade
Today, our 3rd grader learned about “Kol yisrael arevim zeh bazeh”, meaning all of Israel are responsible for each other. They learned what this means and why helping one friend, neighbor and classmate makes a difference in the world.
Want to hear the story they acted out today? Find it here! https://raycenter.wp.drake.edu/2018/06/29/the-starfish-story/
See our kids in action too! Great job, 3rd graders!
It was so good to see and hear your kids at Religious School today and to be together. Nothing sets a heart at peace quite like 50 kids singing songs of peace together 💙🤍

*Grade Level Spotlight* - Today we’re spotlighting our SUPER 7th graders who led our Sukkot service today! These great kids are preparing for their B’nai Mitzvahs (one as soon as this coming Saturday!) and took this leadership role very seriously. Led by Rabbi Jason Holtz and Kathleen Peden Amsterdam, the 7th graders spend this final year of Religious School learning about the history of the Holocaust, hate in all the forms it’s taken against people around the globe, and most importantly, how to do better! Mix in some family mitzvah projects and you have an amazing year of growth and learning ahead.
We also love this great board that the 7th grade used to get to know each other. What is YOUR favorite place you’ve been around the world?? Share it with us and see if it matches a 7th grader!

We have loved having Shinshinit for the last 2 years and Matan, our 2023-24 Shinshinit, is off to a great start! These high schoolers from Israel are so wonderful for our students and they make our lessons super fun!

Grade Level Spotlight: 5th Grade!
Our 5th graders, led by Donna Waller, spend the first part of the year learning about Israel and all the major cities in the country. This year, the class is building this special glass mosaic to highlight what they learn about Israel and what makes each city unique. What a great keepsake for our families!
Can you name which cities are with which of the mosaics? This week was Haifa, a unique and culturally diverse city in Israel!

Tonight we light our yellow candles to remember the 6 million Jews who lost their lives to hate.
Yellow candles were handed out yesterday at religious school as part of our Yom Day celebration.
