After much debate and conversation with the bus companies we still don't feel that we can guarantee student safety at a high enough level to have school tomorrow. While the higher temperature has helped to melt a great deal of the snow it is still not enough on several roads in our rural areas and in some of city streets as well. I am very disappointed to have to bring this to you but the RISD will be remote/virtual Friday January 30. I wanted to get it to you as early as possible in order for you to make your plans .

Good afternoon Rowell families. Although temperatures have warmed up around Southeast New Mexico today there has not been enough significant snow melt on all streets and bus routes to allow us to have an unobstructed flow of traffic near our buses. While we do feel buses would have the ability to negotiate the streets, we do not feel like we can guarantee student safety at a high enough level to have in person school tomorrow Thursday January 29. With that said Roswell independent school district will be remote/virtual for Thursday January 29.. we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your patience.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026 Roswell Independent School District will switch to Remote Learning Day. If you have questions about your student's assignments, please contact your child’s teacher.

On Monday, January 26, 2026 Roswell Independent School District will switch to a remote learning day.

Please have your child work on the bad weather day packets that were sent home this past week. You can also look at the packets on the Missouri Avenue page located on the district’s web site.

Teachers will reach out to families on Dojo Monday. They will be available from 7:45-3:30 tomorrow.

Roswell Independent School District will NOT be closing at noon on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Good morning, and happy Friday RISD families . In the early hours of Friday morning the FBI was alerted to a potential threat via social media against the Roswell schools. As school officials were making plans to notify parents and how to deal with the threat, we were notified that the state police have identified the subject and have made an arrest.Thank you to the FBI, the New Mexico state police, along with all local agencies and have a good Friday.
