After almost 2 full weeks of instruction, the math students at UHS were able to explore the recently added STEM lab! Many gravitated to the mini drones, while others used tablets to control the Spero bolts and RVR's like a remote control car. Students were engaged and determined to figure out the electrical workings of Snap Circuits and Makey Makey circuits. Building with the Blueprint lego like materials and printing on the Robo 3d printers was also a highlight for the math students. On Thursday, over 60 students explored the STEM lab and Mrs. Farmer hopes that all UHS students will get to explore the lab at some point this semester!

📚✨ UHS Students Are Starting the School Year Strong! ✨📚

The first week of school at University High School is about more than just academics! Our students are working on important social-emotional and life skills that help them build positive relationships, communicate effectively, show kindness and respect, and work together. 💬🤝❤️

Through creative projects and hands-on activities, our students are learning that skills like communication, empathy, respect, kindness, and following directions are essential both inside and outside the classroom.

The Roswell Police Department invites the public to National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center (1402 W. College Blvd.) from 6 to 8 p.m.

RPD and other law enforcement, fire and medical agencies will have some of their vehicles and equipment at the event for people to check out firsthand while visiting with the emergency responders.

During the event, the outdoor pool will be open to the public for free swimming beginning at 6:15 p.m. There is a limit of 200 people in the pool at a given time.

There will be food, games and raffles.

National Night Out began in 1984 as a way for communities across the country to build relationships among citizens and police, fire and medical emergency responders, while also raising crime-prevention awareness. Thousands of communities in all 50 states and U.S. territories, as well as in Canada, hold local events each year. Most National Night Out events are held on the first Tuesday in August, although some places hold events at other times.

🎒✨ Community, connection, and lots of smiles! ✨🎒

RISD Community Schools Coordinators had a wonderful time at the 8th Annual Chaves County Health Expo! We handed out backpacks, played games with the children, and shared valuable information and resources with local families.

"Due to circumstances beyond my control—and beyond the control of our wonderful principal, Mrs. Hall—I will no longer serve as the Community Schools Coordinator at University High School.

This is incredibly difficult for me to share because I truly loved what I did. UHS was never just a job to me. I loved serving our students, supporting their families, working alongside our staff, and building meaningful relationships with our amazing community partners.

I am extremely proud of everything we accomplished together and forever grateful for every person who supported our students and believed in the work we were doing. Although my time in this position is ending, my love for UHS, our students, and this community will always remain.

Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and allowing me to serve a community that means so much to my heart. I will deeply miss our students, families, staff, partners, and the entire UHS community. Once a Phoenix, always a Phoenix. ❤️"
