To our Pierce Country Day School Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we want to inform our school community that our beloved Grandfather, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Big Chief, Doug Pierce passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Florida on Wednesday.

Doug led our family throughout its 3rd generation as Owner/Director of Pierce Country Day Camp and Pierce Country Day School. He was also a pioneer and leader in the field of camping and in our local community where he served as President of more organizations than can be named here.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 20th at St. Mary's Roslyn located at 110 Bryant Ave, Roslyn, NY 11576. We will use one of our calendared snow days to close school on Thursday, April 20th so our family, teachers, staff, and all who wish may attend the service.

The outpouring of love and support we have received since Doug's passing has been overwhelming, humbling, and a great source of comfort for our family during this difficult time. Thank you to all who have shared your memories of Doug and your words of support, they mean a lot to our family.

We had so much fun listening and interacting with the characters as they traveled through outer space! Biggest thank you to Erica for sharing this story with us all! 🚀

Miss Kim (oops, we mean Pete the Cat) read to Toddler 1 today. They loved her costume almost as much as the book! 😊
