📸 Flashback Friday | Celebrating 150 Years of Dry Creek Schools 🎉

This class photo from 1949 is serving up some serious style! From the girls' beautiful dresses to the boys' collared shirts, and even a teacher dressed in a tie, everyone came ready for picture day.

But one of our favorite discoveries wasn't in the photo at all. It was written on the back.

Donald. Gary. Ronald. Dorothy. Mary Jo. Carol.

These names were once heard in classrooms across America, but today they feel like a sweet reminder of a different generation. Just like the fashion trends in this photo, names tell a story and capture a moment in time.

As we celebrate 150 years of Dry Creek Schools, we're loving every opportunity to uncover and share these snapshots from our past.

If you were a child in 1949, what would your old-fashioned name be? Share your name below! 👇

Last week we kicked off Attendance Awareness Month with a fun contest! “Attendance Scouts,” our school administrators, looked for students who arrived at school on time and ready to learn. They took a photo and shared it on their school’s Instagram.

We randomly selected one student from each school and made a surprise visit today to deliver a non-electric scooter and helmet! đź›´

The smiles, excitement, and surprised faces made this contest so much fun. We loved celebrating our students and reminding them that their presence truly matters.

Congratulations to all of our winners! And to everyone else for showing up, ready to learn, and making every day count! We are all winners when we attend school daily. Let’s keep the momentum going all year long!

High fives, big smiles, and ALL the morning energy! 🙌

Take a glimpse of how the morning kicks off as Assistant Principal Jenn DuPont makes students feel welcome! From the moment they arrive at school, she’s there with a high five and a whole lot of excitement. And honestly…who wouldn’t want to start their day like that?!

Showing up matters! Every day is a chance to learn something new, see your friends, share a laugh, and be part of the fun.

Your smile matters. Your voice matters. YOU matter!

Join us in celebrating Attendance Awareness Month. Your Presence Matters!

📚 Did you know literacy begins with showing up?

Strong readers are built one lesson at a time. Kids missing just two days of school each month in TK and Kindergarten are less likely to be reading by 3rd grade.

Every story, every lesson, every day makes a difference. Your presence matters.

All Dry Creek schools and District offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Today, we celebrate the dedication and hard work of our teachers, staff, families, and community members who make a difference for our students every day. We’re also grateful for the contributions of workers everywhere who help our communities thrive.

Wishing our Dry Creek community a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved holiday! ❤️🤍💙

📸 Flashback Friday | Celebrating 150 Years of Dry Creek Schools 🎉

The year was 1994, and students at Antelope Crossing Middle School were hard at work cutting out newspaper articles for a classroom project. 📰✂️

Long before search engines and digital databases, students flipped through newspapers, clipped articles, and organized information by hand. Research looked a little different back then, but curiosity and learning have always been at the heart of a Dry Creek education.

How many of you remember doing research this way? Share your memories below! 👇

A RECESS THROWBACK!

What happens when you take recess back to 1925? Our Silverado 8th graders found out! 🎉

As part of Dry Creek’s 150th Anniversary celebration, students and staff are participating in activities inspired by different decades throughout the school year. This month, we went back to 1925 with classic recess games like hopscotch, jump rope, and Duck, Duck, Goose!

It was so much fun watching our students step back in time, and we even saw a few of our teachers join in!

Here’s to celebrating 150 years of Dry Creek history, one decade and one recess game at a time!

🎓 Did you know every day brings you closer to graduation?

Every day a student is in school is another step toward graduation. Chronically absent students, missing 10% or more of the school year, are significantly more likely to fall behind academically and are at greater risk of not graduating on time.

Showing up today helps build a brighter tomorrow. Every day counts because your presence matters.

Happy 150th Birthday, Dry Creek! 🎉

On August 31, 1876, the official land deed for our original one-acre school site was recorded, marking the beginning of a legacy that continues to grow and thrive 150 years later! How cool to see a copy of this deed in handwriting shown in this picture.

Today, our District Office team celebrated this special milestone with a little birthday cake and a whole lot of Dry Creek pride. 🍰

For 150 years, Dry Creek has been a place where students learn, grow, and make memories, and it’s the people who have been part of our schools along the way who make this legacy so special.

Here’s to 150 years of learning, growing, and making history!

Happy Birthday, Dry Creek! ❤️🍎
