A reminder to myself about the time, not long ago enough, that I didn’t believe in mental illness, let alone mental health. How wrong I was. We are whole people…body, mind, and spirit. It all matters. I changed. Miracles do happen! ❤️

Just reminding myself of the time I used to be holier than thou and didn’t believe in mental illness, let alone mental health.

I've been quiet here since my retirement, but I wanted to share this resource in light of the revelations of another Duggar son involved in molesting children. I had several clients who experienced sibling abuse of various kinds, and there is a dearth of information to help them. This website has resources for sibling abuse survivors and helpers.

I went on a mental health walk today. I was feeling a bit depleted and decided to look for the color yellow to cheer me up. I found lots of it! Some was faded or fading, like the daffodils that were past their prime. I can relate. But I did feel cheered up by the time I got home, 3 miles and 1 hour later. Some say that Jesus, who did a lot of walking, never went more than about 3 miles an hour. Slowing down and noticing the world around me is good for my mental health and my spiritual health, as speeding up does not usually improve my mood or my productivity. My husband likes to say, “Fast is slow and slow is fast.” That was a good word for me today. And guess what? The most brilliant yellow was the forsythia bush blooming in my own backyard.

Enjoying my back yard this evening. This is one of the things I love about California. February weather can be gorgeous.

How lovely is this? One of my neighbors is creating delicious beauty in her kitchen. I’m looking forward to eating it but right now I’m enjoying just admiring it. IOW, I’m feeding my soul, then my belly. Both matter, as does supporting our neighbors.

So practical! Unblending from activated parts is a powerful way to soothe your nervous system.

When all parts of us feel internally connected and held in the loving embrace of the body of which is an aspect, then they will feel safe and nourished at last. The first step is to become curious about this ‘other’ inside whom we do not really know.

The sky cleared up just in time to watch the sun sink into the ocean, one of my very favorite things to do!
