Today I was trying to sort my workshop content into two categories; learning strategies and change strategies. I was struggling to separate the two. I realized, the two are truly inseparable. Learning leads to change; change leads to learning.

No, really! This will make sense to you. You’ve probably heard someone say something like, “The smell of apple pie always makes me think of my Grandma.” It’s real! The part of the brain that processes smell is very close and strongly connected to the part that processes memory. So…the next time you need to remember something or study for a test, try this. Expose yourself to a specific fragrance while you are taking in the information. (Lavender, cinnamon, rose, lemon…whatever you like.) Later, when you need to retrieve the information, put a little of that fragrance on your wrist and smell it when you want to remember. The smell will help activate the memory of what you have learned.
