It’s National Arts in Education Week β€” tell Congress arts education can't wait.
This week, we’re calling on Congress to fully fund arts education's five federal funding streams, maintain
funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and protect access to the arts for every student in
every community, from preK-12 through higher education.
Arts education shapes creative thinkers, strengthens communities, and opens doors for the next generation.
Join us in urging lawmakers to invest in the future of the arts.

πŸ† OUTSTANDING PERFORMER ACHIEVEMENT πŸ†

Huge congratulations to Bria Solano for being selected as an Outstanding Performer at the 2026 Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest!

To put this incredible achievement into perspective, out of approximately 100,000 students who participate in regional UIL music contests, only the top 2% to 3% of solo performances earn this prestigious distinction. It is the highest honor awarded at the state level, and Bria is receiving a draped gold medal identical to those given to state champions across all UIL events.

This honor is a direct reflection of Bria’s immense talent, relentless dedication, and hard work. We also extend our gratitude to the parents, teachers, and directors who supported her along the way.

Please join us in celebrating Bria on this remarkable, elite milestone! 🎢πŸ₯‡

Congratulations to Miss McKenna Petersen!

πŸŽ»πŸ† Congratulations to McKenna on an incredible achievement!

McKenna has been crowned the Junior Division Champion at the prestigious National Oldtime Fiddle Contest in Weiser!

This remarkable victory makes her a three-time National Championβ€”having previously won the Junior Junior Division (ages 9–12) twice, and now capturing the Junior Division title (ages 13–17).

Held each year during the third full week of June, the National Oldtime Fiddle Contest attracts some of the finest young fiddlers from across the United States, Canada, and even Japan. McKenna competed against 29 talented musicians and was the youngest fiddler to finish in the Top 5, making her accomplishment even more impressive.

As if that wasn't enough, McKenna also teamed up with her mom (Ms. Aimee Petersen) to compete in the Adult Twin Fiddle Division, where they earned an outstanding 5th-place finish together.

Congratulations, McKenna! Your talent, dedication, and hard work continue to inspire us all. We can't wait to see what you accomplish next! πŸŽΆπŸ‘ Lamar CISD

πŸŽΆπŸ† HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHURCHILL FULSHEAR HIGH SCHOOL WIND ENSEMBLE! πŸ†πŸŽΆ

The Churchill Fulshear Wind Ensemble has ADVANCED TO THE AREA ROUND of the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor Band process!

Today, the top bands in Region 13 competed for a chance to continue their journey, and only the Top 4 bands advanced. Against an incredibly talented field of outstanding ensembles, Churchill Fulshear earned a 4th-place finish, securing a spot in the next round of competition.

This achievement is especially significant as it marks the first time Churchill Fulshear has competed in the 6A Honor Band process. While the program has previously been recognized as a State Finalist in both 4A and 5A, this is a historic milestone for the school and, to our knowledge, the first time an LCISD band has advanced to the Area Round in Class 6A.

We also want to recognize the incredible performances by George Ranch High School and Foster High School, who represented LCISD with excellence today. This year also marks the first time LCISD has had three schools competing in the 6A Honor Band process, highlighting the continued growth and strength of our band programs.

The road ahead will be challenging, with the best bands from across the Houston area competing for a chance to be heard at the state level, but we couldn't be prouder of these students and directors for this remarkable accomplishment.

🎺πŸ₯πŸŽ· Congratulations, Churchill Fulshear Wind Ensemble! We are cheering you on as you advance to Area! Lamar CISD
