Reading this book is a great way to prepare your learners for the partial lunar eclipse later this month. Weather permitting, it will be visible right here in Minnesota, covering about 96% of the Moon's face! Plan ahead to stretch bedtime on Wednesday, Aug 27, one last time before school starts. Lasting more than 5 hours, you can plan what works for your family.

β˜€οΈπŸ“š Our summer reading series is still going strong!

This week, Woodland Elementary Principal Kristine McGuire is sharing a heartwarming story about being different in a new school. The Invisible You is written by Vikings legend and former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page with Kamie Page, illustrated by local Minneapolis artist David Geister.

This picture book follows a young boy named Howard who is feeling anxious about his first day at a new school and worries about being different. As he begins to connect with his new classmates, he discovers "the invisible you"β€”the things inside each of us that make us completely unique, no matter our background or appearance. πŸ’›

It’s an incredible story that helps kids conquer back-to-school jitters and sparks meaningful conversations about kindness, community, and celebrating what makes each of us uniquely ourselves.

This week, Parkview Elementary Principal Nicole Garcia is recommending a hilarious summer adventure: A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever, written and illustrated by Marla Frazee.

This laugh-out-loud Caldecott Honor book follows best friends James and Eamon as they head off to a "nature camp" and stay with Eamon’s grandparents for the week. But instead of embracing the great outdoors, the boys spend their time eating waffles, blowing up an air mattress, and doing just about everything except enjoying nature!
