I've been giving lots of thought to how we can possibly measure quality in early childhood care and education. This article echos much of my conclusions. Safe. Stable. Responsive. Thriving.

Perhaps that is the definition of quality we have been looking for.

For years, “high-quality childcare” has been the phrase we use to describe what we want for New Hampshire’s youngest children.

I'm offering a new training through the SEIU Education and Support Fund, here is Massachusetts! It's through Zoom. I'll be co-teaching this training with Jennifer Harris of Taunton, MA. She recently earned her Masters Degree and is an amazing family child care educator!

Understanding and Supporting Children with Special Needs in a Family Child Care Setting

September 8 and 9, 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Attendees must be present for the entire training on both nights.

This training is FREE and open to family child care educators who have currently enrolled one or more children on a voucher/subsidy.

I will be offering several professional development opportunities through the Southeast MA Professional Development Center!

The first one which I am SOOO excited about, is the return of our Family Child Care discussion forum - "Reflecting on Practices in Family Child Care: Questions for Sharing, Discussion, and Growth." In this series, we meet once a month via Zoom to share expertise, reflect on our own practices, and dive deeply into topics related to early childhood education and family child care. Each month features a topic and provocative questions just to get the discussion ball rolling!
You do not have to attend all the sessions, but you will receive a training certificate at the end of the series that reflects the total number of sessions you have attended.
Dates: Sept. 5, Oct.13, Nov. 3, Dec. 8, Jan. 12. 2027, Feb. 9, Mar. 9, Apr. 13, May 11, June 8. All sessions are 6:30 - 8:30 PM

Who misses in-person conferences? (I do!) I'm proud to be one of many amazing presenters at the EzEd2Go Conference on October 3. It's in Fall River and focuses on the value of playful learning. I'll be presenting playful ways to teach mathematics to young children. Even infants are learning concepts of math....come and find out how!

The second cohort of Family Child Care Foundations will begin in July!
This is an amazing program to help people who are interested in opening a family child care program with the licensing process and business considerations.
It's free, and open to anyone in Massachusetts.
You will get a 20 hour course, guidance through the procedure, a 1:1 mentor and more!
