Help your child avoid the infamous "summer slide" by giving them the skills and preparation they need to start the school year off right! "Little Ones for Literacy" is a co-ed, summer day camp designed to strengthen your child's literacy skills in the areas of phonemic awareness, decoding, sight word recognition, fluency, comprehension, and writing. We, as certified Reading Specialists and element

ary teachers, specifically design our program after we meet your children at our special "Meet and Greet" sessions. Therefore, our instruction is highly individualized to meet the needs of our students. Come learn more about us by visiting our webpage: www.littleones4literacy.weebly.com

During the school year, we offer a Kindergarten Enrichment program to supplement half day kindergarten (both in the AM and PM). With our small student to reading specialist ratios, we're able to meet the needs of students with advanced and emergent literacy skill sets. Lastly, we offer private one-on-one tutoring and reading evaluations.

A topic that is near and dear to my heart... parents of young children/teachers- take a look and educate yourselves on predictable vs decodable text. It's so important to understand and appreciate the difference during those early years of literacy development. :)

The Good: Toddlers and preschoolers adore picture books with predictable language because they can emulate reading without needing to decode. Young children love Brown, Bear Brown Bear, What Do You…

For all of my friends who find themselves questioning whether their children are receiving the best, most effective reading instruction, please take 12 minutes to watch this video. This diligent parent did a very simple experiment with her own child and exposed significant flaws in the methods and instruction that MANY schools use (many locally in the Pa suburbs).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently helping our 1st grade daughter through distance learning. This has opened our eyes to the ways that kids are b...

SUMMER 2020 UPDATE: Due to safety concerns and in following the state's camp guidelines, LOFL camp will not be offering its traditional literacy camp for summer 2020. However, our incredible teachers will be offering virtual (and possibly moving to in-person depending on stay at home orders) one-on-one and small group tutoring for children ages rising PK through rising 6th grade. Our camp web pages share more details about this format if you are interested in learning more. Please send any follow up questions or concerns to us.
Thank you, stay well, and we hope to be back up and running for summer 2021!
Happy Memorial Day! :)
