Holy Child School at Rosemont

Holy Child School at Rosemont An Independent, Coeducational, Catholic school for Preschool-Grade 8 in the greater Philadelphia area

Holy Child School at Rosemont was founded in 1949 with 22 students by Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. Today, we serve more than 320 children through our challenging and creative program that focuses on teaching the whole child with love, respect, and patience. In this inclusive, independent Catholic school community where all faiths are welcome, students become academically prepare

d, kind, confident leaders who are ready to shine in the next phase of their education. We elevate early learning by providing our students in preschool-grade 8 with an uplifting education, joyful opportunities, and a boundless childhood experience that allows kids to be kids — because happy children learn better.

At the final Parents’ Auxiliary Meeting of the 2025–2026 school year, a group of Grade 8 parents and students led a panel reflecting on their time at Holy Child, sharing experiences and treasured memories from their years at Holy Child.

Underscoring the value of our Middle School program, Eilise Rouse P'20'24'26 shared, “Cornelia Connelly says, ‘Be yourself, but make that self all that God wants it to be.’ While these words were spoken a century ago, this holds true and is what sets Holy Child apart. As a school community, we recognize the importance of the relational pieces of connectivity and confidence."

Meanwhile, our older students in our Strategies for Success camp have been developing and strengthening essential skills for Middle School, including organization, planning, task completion, and effective study techniques.

The Early Childhood years are a magical time that builds confidence and individuality while also laying the groundwork for social development, experiential learning, and curiosity. Whether they’re learning about community helpers through a visit from Bryn Mawr Fire Company, creating art with the helping hands of older buddies, or leading a school-wide service project, our Early Childhood students make the most of every learning experience!

For our younger learners, the student experience incorporates opportunities to perform, learn prayerful and mindful practices, and connect with older students throughout the school, aligning with our Holy Child Goals 5 & 6 of "Personal Growth" and "Community." Through these traditions, children create lasting memories with one another while growing with intention.

In 1949, Holy Child School at Rosemont was established in the Tudor Mansion, designed by the famous Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer as a family home. By reimagining this space as a school, the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus who served as our school's first teachers were truly enacting Cornelia's philosophy of "educating children in a home-like environment."

Glimpses into the original classrooms from the 1950s, which were former bedrooms in the Tudor Mansion, remind us of the generations of dedicated Sisters and educators who brought learning to life and nurtured their students in a way that would make Cornelia proud.

These former classrooms—now offices for our staff—continue to hold memories of learning, friendship, and community that connect us to our school’s rich history 📚✨
