RCE of Essex/Passaic Counties - Environmental Mgmt. Helping the people of Essex and Passaic Counties handle environmental issues

Rutgers Cooperative Extension's Environmental and Resource Management program was created to provide technical expertise in environmental issues at the local level. Initially, the focus of outreach and education efforts will be water resource issues such as: stormwater management, water conservation, protection of local waterways, and low impact development. Environmental and Resource Management Agents provide support to citizens, community groups, and local officials through education, research, and outreach.

Chris Paul, one of the Organic Land Care working group industry representatives, is kicking off "Business Day" of the Organic Land Care course. Day 5 will focus on how to incorporate organic land care into landscaper's businesses, troubleshooting, a 4-man panel, and wildlife management.

Day 4 of Organic Land Care has begun after yesterday's snow day! Our own Bill Hlubik is starting us off with organic soil amendments and fertilizers. Then we'll have Chuck Schmitt from Cornell speaking about organic disease management of trees and shrubs, and then Rutgers' Steve Rettke finishing out the day with organic pest management.
