The Southwest Parke Board of School Trustees will conduct its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 7 PM in the RPHS Library. An Executive Session will follow. The public is invited to attend the regular monthly meeting.

Our fourth graders traveled back in time at Billie Creek Village! Students enjoyed a hands-on experience exploring historic buildings and learning what daily life was like in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

A special thank you to the Parke County Community Foundation’s Mosteller Grant for making this educational experience possible. Our students had a wonderful time learning, exploring, and making memories!

FALL FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Trash bags and popcorn will arrive at the school the morning of October 20.

If you know your student has a large order, please make arrangements to pick it up during one of the following times:

Tuesday, October 20: 12:00-4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 21: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Please avoid using the front loop between 2:30-3:15 p.m.

Smaller orders will be sent home with students whenever possible.

We have a busy couple of days before we head into Fall Break! Here are a few quick reminders for families:

Runner’s Club: The meet is tomorrow at Riverton Parke at 5:00pm. Students in grades 3-4 who are participating should arrive by 4:45pm.

PTO Walkathon: The Walkathon is this Thursday during specials! If your student collected pledge donations, please send those in before Thursday.

Buddy Bags: If your student brought home a Buddy Bag form and you are interested in participating, please return the form ASAP.

Fall Break: There will be no school Friday, October 9, or Monday, October 12-Friday, October 16. We will return on Monday, October 19 to begin the second quarter!

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Fall Break!

🎃 Pumpkin Decorating Competition! 🎃

Our PTO is hosting a class pumpkin decorating competition, and our students and staff are definitely bringing their A game! Every pumpkin looks FANTASTIC, making this a tough competition!

The winning class will celebrate with a popcorn party complete with all the fixings!

We’ll reveal the winner by the end of the week. Stay tuned! 👀

SEPTEMBER HOTSHOTS OF THE MONTH

Each month, we recognize one student from each classroom who represents the values we strive to see in every Hotshot! Our Hotshot Trait of the Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate a different quality that helps make our school community a great place to learn and grow. Teachers will share a quick “This student stood out to me because...” statement to highlight how each Hotshot demonstrates the monthly trait.

September's trait was: RESPECT
