9-1-1 Dispatch Supervisor Dawna Zarbano retired on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 after nearly 34 years in public safety. Twenty-two of those years were with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Dawna began her career as a dispatcher for the Myrtle Creek Police Department in 1988. She was hired by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in 2003 as a Communications Officer.
She was promoted to Communications Supervisor in 2018 and served in that role until her retirement. Dawna worked as a Field Training Officer and FTO Program Coordinator. She managed policy and procedure updates, was on the hiring board and served on the Crisis Negotiations Team.
She has worked for four Communication Center Mangers and three Sheriffs.
Dawna is a United States Navy veteran who served as a Hospital Corpsman.

Please join the members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in congratulating Dawna on her well-earned retirement. Enjoy, Dawna!

The Brethren of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Valley of Roseburg, desire to wish everyone a peaceful and spiritual Christmas holiday.

We Masons in Roseburg wish to observe the lives, accomplishments, and service of our Veterans. They gave what we cherish in our country. Thank you Veterans!

The following is from Brother David Hopkins, Scholarship Director.

The Roseburg Valley Scottish Rite ,a masonic group, wish to announce the selection of those applicants for the 2024 stipends. We first want to acknowledge the commitment and quality of students in and from Douglas County. It is always hard to make selections as many applicants’ worthy of recognition. The scholarship comes from both funds locally and Orient funds to benefit students in this area to further education in all residents of Douglas County and is administered using the guidelines established. The committee met the week of April 6 and has awarded stipends to Massino Falleni and Zachary McDowell of Roseburg High School and Theodore Powell of Riddle High School.

A dinner will be held in conjunction with the Laurel Masonic Lodge Scholarships on May 29, 2024 starting at 7pm at St. George Episcopal Church in Roseburg (Cass and Main) any questions should be directed to David Hopkins.
