🫧🧢 Summer term kicks off with "Bubbles, Brims & (Ice Cream) Bars," a two-day event hosted by student engagement intern Laura Pierce.

Today, students picked out patches to iron onto baseball caps, grabbed snacks and took time to learn about the mental health resources available on campus. The event repeats tomorrow, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., outside the LaVerne Murphy Student Center.

"(The event) is really here to raise awareness about the Trail to Wellness workshops," Pierce says.

Trail to Wellness started out as a 24/7 crisis hotline directing students to counselors and local resources, as previously reported by The Mainstream. However, the program's creator and mental health counselor and coordinator Casey Kohl wants to expand Trail to Wellness' services across departments and beyond mental health.

Kohl says, "Trail to Wellness ultimately should cover all wellness activities on campus — not just a crisis line.”

"When someone is in crisis, the simpler the better," Kohl says. "We're trying to simplify things and take away from some of the confusion (about the program's name)."

Students can call the Trail to Wellness crisis line at (833) 424-1217 and contact Casey Kohl via [email protected], or visit his student services office in the student center.

🎸🤘 “The Day the Music Died” rocks Swanson Ampitheatre this Graffiti Weekend: An outdoor concert inspired by Don McLean’s intergenerational hit will take place each 7:30 p.m. July 10 to 14.

Starring students, staff and community members, the concert — created by music instructor Jason Heald and produced by theater instructor Bart McHenry — memorializes the life’s work of early rock and roll artists Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper and the women by their sides.

General admission is $15, senior admission is $10 and students get in free. Bistro table and chair seating will be provided, though there is also picnic area space for blankets or lawn chairs.

Food and beverages will also be available to purchase, including wine provided by the Southern Oregon Wine Institute.
