Conscious Discipline for Parents/Caregivers starts next week!

Conscious Discipline is an approach that helps children learn to understand their emotions, build strong relationships, and solve problems in healthy ways. It teaches both adults and children how to stay calm, connect with each other, and handle challenging moments with kindness rather than punishment.

-Tuesdays 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, January 13 - March 3
-Green Elementary School, 4498 Carnes Rd, Roseburg, OR 97471

UCAN Early Learning Programs will be closed for Winter Break from December 22nd through January 2nd.

Monday, January 5th is a teacher work day and there will be no class that day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 6th.

We have received a few calls of concern and we want to let you know that we are still operating during the government shutdown.

Despite closures nationwide, Oregon Head Start set to remain afloat during government shutdown • Oregon Capital Chronicle Exact figures are yet to be released, but program leaders plan to meet in Salem on Thursday to discuss more concrete funding plans.

Governor Tina Kotek has officially proclaimed October as Head Start Awareness Month in Oregon!

This declaration honors the incredible impact of Head Start, which continues to provide early education, health care, and critical family supports to children and families across our state.

For 60 years, Head Start has been a national success story — empowering children and families through positive educational outcomes, stronger social and emotional development, and the power of engaged parents and caregivers.

Since its inception in 1965, more than 40 million children and families nationwide have been served. Here in Oregon, programs support children from prenatal care through preschool in all 36 counties.

Head Start continues to build brighter futures for Oregon’s children — one family at a time.

This month our Director and friends had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to share about the important work Head Start is doing in Oregon!
