A new back door may not seem like a big deal, but for one Douglas County childcare provider, it meant being able to open her program and serve local families.

Through the Douglas County Childcare Coalition's Childcare Provider ASK Fund, 75% of the cost was covered to install a safe second emergency exit. This is one of many projects supported by the fund, which has approved nearly $10,000 in improvements, equipment, and supplies to help childcare providers open, stay open, thrive, and grow.

Oh, what a day in Douglas County! Yesterday’s proclamation by the Douglas County Government County Commissioners recognizing National Childcare Provider Appreciation Day was a powerful reminder of just how essential this work is to our community. It was truly inspiring to hear from childcare providers, early learning professionals, community partners, and commissioners—all coming together with a shared commitment to children and families.
