Celebrating Our Fifth Graders!

Sunnyslope proudly honored our 5th grade students during their Advancement Ceremony as they closed out their elementary school journey. It was a time to celebrate the memories, friendships, growth, and accomplishments they’ve made over the years.

Families, staff, and friends came together to cheer on these amazing students as they prepare for their next adventure in middle school. We are so proud of all they have achieved and excited to see what the future holds for each of them!

Congratulations, 5th Grade! We know you will continue to SHINE!

Sunnyslope students had an exciting treat on the last day of school when Central Douglas Fire & Rescue stopped by to help us celebrate summer!

Students laughed, ran, and cooled off under a giant spray of water from the fire truck ladder. The field was filled with smiles as kids splashed through the mist and enjoyed the warm sunshine with their friends.

A huge thank-you to the firefighters from Central Douglas Fire & Rescue for taking time out of their day to create such a fun and memorable experience for our students. It was the perfect way to celebrate a great school year and kick off summer break!

Our kindergarten students wrapped up the school year with a special Kindergarten Bump-Up Ceremony at Sunnyslope! We loved celebrating all the learning, growth, and memories made throughout the year.

This year, our kinders learned new skills, made friendships, and grew in so many ways. From the first day of school to now, they have worked hard and come so far!
We are so proud of these amazing students and can’t wait to see them shine in 1st grade next year. Great job, Kindergarten!

Sunnyslope 5th graders had a great time at our Track & Field Day at Umpqua Community College! Students learned from college athletes and had the opportunity to try events such as hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin, and more.

As these students prepare to move on to middle school next year, they will have the opportunity to participate in track and field as an after-school sport. This event gave 5th graders a chance to explore the different events, learn new skills, and discover what they might enjoy competing in during the years ahead.

Arlie enjoyed the relay races because she likes running. Makayla and Lily both liked "jumping in the sand" while trying the long jump!

What a way to end the school year at Sunnyslope Elementary!

Yesterday, on our final day of school, students enjoyed an exciting field day filled with games, teamwork, and lots of smiles.

The playgrounds and fields were full of energy as students celebrated all they had accomplished this year with their classmates and teachers. It was a fun-filled morning and a great sendoff into summer vacation!

A big thank you to our staff members and volunteers for helping make the day such a success.

Sunnyslope students in 2nd grade ended the year by exploring the history of aviation during CKLA time. They listened to stories about early aviators such as the Montgolfier brothers, the Wright brothers, Aída de Acosta, and Amelia Earhart.
They studied the science of flight, learned physics concepts such as lift, and researched the social impacts of aviation on the world.

Then they went to the Roseburg Airport for the day to see it all in action! At the airport, students saw tools used to build airplanes, examined an aircraft engine, learned about airport safety, and even had the opportunity to sit inside an airplane.

Special thanks to Dan and Rhonda Sprague for helping bring their classroom lessons to life!

Sunnyslope students, families, and staff made Walk or Roll to School Day a great success! It was wonderful to see so many students arrive with bikes, scooters, walking shoes, and big smiles.
Second-grade student Josiah said that walking to school in the morning was fun because he got to do it with his friends and have races.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the morning fun, active, and safe. We love seeing our school community come together in such a positive way!
