It is with great sadness that I inform you that our Wing Chun/San Soo brother Rod Cole passed this last Friday. He was a student off and on for 30 years. We spoke of him training the week before. Sadly, that will not be. May he rest in peace and you all know he lived his life to the best of his ability right up to the end.

Merry Christmas everyone!

40 years ago this month I had my introduction to traditional Wing Chun! I had become aware of the system the prior year through a four part series of articles by Grandmaster Cheung in Black Belt Magazine.
I was fortunate to be invited to Joe Coello's garage/kwoon to meet GM's top US student at that time and my Sihing Blaine Collins.
He showed personal films of Bruce Lee and GM Cheung and demonstrations by GM Cheung!

Blaine was a herald to prepare the way for a very successful seminar with GM a couple weeks later. That is when I became a student of Grandmaster Cheung and Blaine began to mentor me at his expense travelling thousands of miles to advance the system and benefit any and all interested in learning the Wing Chun system .

I and probably every American instructor from that period onward owe a debt of gratitude not only to GM Cheung but to Blaine for his unselfish contributons to the collective skill of us all. With that said
