For the fourteenth year, students in Mrs. Toni Mervine’s ELA class have been winners in the Rubber Band Contest for Young Inventors sponsored by The University of Akron’s School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering. Along with the submission, each student submits an essay explaining the creation and how people will benefit from it.
This year, 6th grader Clara Litherland is Runner Up for the Arts and Leisure Category and has been awarded $100 for her submission. She created “Our Internet Trap”.
Lyla Kelsey is a finalist for the Arts and Leisure Category and has been awarded $50. She created “This is me, Inside and Out”.
