NEOMED’s Bitonte College of Dentistry recently welcomed community partners to an open house at its new Blessed Family Dental Clinic, highlighting efforts to expand access to affordable oral health care across Northeast Ohio.

The clinic’s first community service will be free, non-invasive head and neck cancer screenings, offered Sept. 1–Dec. 15. Students will conduct screenings under faculty supervision, gaining valuable clinical experience while providing an important preventive health service.

From Sept. 1 through Dec. 15, the Bitonte College of Dentistry at NEOMED will offer FREE, non-invasive head and neck cancer screenings in its brand-new dental clinic. Dental students will perform screenings in pairs under faculty dentist supervision as part of their clinical training.

Head and neck cancers can develop in the lips, tongue, gums, cheeks, floor of the mouth, throat, tonsils, salivary glands and other areas. Routine visual and touch examinations can help identify potential concerns early, which is why the American Dental Association supports oral cancer screenings as part of preventive care.

Congratulations to NEOMED’s Family Medicine Interest Group on earning national recognition as a 2026 Program of Excellence Award recipient from the American Academy of Family Physicians! 🎉

One of 21 medical school FMIGs recognized nationwide, NEOMED’s group was honored for its innovative efforts to inspire students to pursue careers in family medicine through hands-on learning, physician networking, community service and meaningful connections.

From clinical skills workshops to wellness events and conversations with practicing physicians, FMIG continues to build a supportive community that highlights the impact and possibilities of family medicine.
