The 36th annual Northeast Ohio Medical University Regional Scholarship Day was held Wednesday, May 14. Nearly 200 faculty members and residents gathered in the NEW Center for the event, sponsored by the Departments of Family and Community Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy Practice, Surgery and Office of the Vice President for Research.

Congratulations to Alex Heintzelman, M.D. (’11) who was selected by students in the College of Medicine to be the 2025 faculty recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. This award, presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, recognizes graduating medical students and faculty members who are exemplars of humanism in the care of patients.

Dr. Heintzelman is Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Associate Program Director in Family Medicine at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. 👏
