Announcements for August 24-28:

First off, we hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

We appreciate the support of those who were able to attend our Open House Block Party event last week. We believe it was a great way to celebrate the start of a great school year.

We are so eager to welcome each of our children back on campus for the first day of the 2026-2027 school year tomorrow, August 24th. Our theme for this school year is Panther Power - Strong Minds, Kind Hearts, Every Day!, .

Just a reminder for families of children in PreK or Kindergarten - they will participate in staggered entry - please check with your child's teacher if you need to verify which day your child will need to report to school. Beginning Thursday, all children in PreK and kindergarten will come to school. If your child is in kindergarten and you plan to walk him/her in on their first day, please plan to arrive between 7:25 - 7:45. You will be able to walk your child to his/her classroom. They will go as a group from there to eat breakfast.

Please remember that our tardy bell rings at 7:50am; our expectation is that children are to be in classrooms and ready to learn by this time.

Safety tidbit of the week: We will have our first fire drill this week - teachers will teach and review procedures early in the week prior to our drill. This will also be a great opportunity for you to have a conversation with your child about this procedure at school.

**Also related to safety, we are very excited about the progress taking place on our campus for our new carline route. Because the work will continue over the next several weeks, DOT has asked that families arrive on campus later in the day for afternoon carline. In order to support them with this, I am asking that families wait until 2:30pm to arrive on campus for afternoon carline. We often have car line traffic much earlier than that, so I know this will be an adjustment for some, but arriving for the car line at 2:30 or later will help those who are working tremendously.

🚌 Bus Transportation Procedures 💙💛
Safety is our top priority! Please take a moment to review our Bus Procedures to help ensure a safe and smooth transportation experience for all students.
A few important reminders:
🚌 Arrive at the bus stop 10–15 minutes early each morning and afternoon.
🚌 Help us reinforce safe bus stop behavior by reminding students to follow the driver’s directions.
🚌 For the safety of our youngest students, students in grades 3 and below must have a visible adult at the bus stop in the afternoon before they will be released from the bus.

To help ensure the safety of all students, please review our check-in and check-out procedures:
🕢 If your child arrives late: A parent or legal guardian must accompany the student to the school office to check them in.
🏫 Checking a student out early: Parents or legal guardians must check students out through the main office. Office staff will assist with the sign-out process.
📝 If someone other than a parent or legal guardian will be checking out your child: Please send a note to the office first thing that morning so staff can verify permission with the parent or legal guardian before dismissal.
🪪 Photo identification is required for all student check-outs.
⏰ School Hours:
• School Begins: 7:50 AM
• School Ends: 3:05 PM

📚 Attendance Matters! 📅
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. We appreciate your partnership in helping your child be at school, on time, and ready to learn each day!
Here are a few important attendance reminders:
✅ Students must be present for at least one-half of the instructional day to be counted present. (Lunch is not considered instructional time.)
📝 When your child returns after an absence, please send a doctor’s note or a parent/guardian note within 3 school days explaining the reason for the absence.
✍️ Families may submit up to six handwritten parent notes during the school year. After six handwritten notes, a doctor’s note will be required for future absences.
📅 If a student accumulates 10 or more excused absences, the school will schedule an attendance meeting with the family to develop a plan to improve attendance.
❗ If no note is received within three days, the absence will be marked unexcused.
