👑 RISE Together, Royals! 👑

Last week grades PK–6 came together for a fun assembly focused on teamwork, collaboration and what it means to RISE together as Royals!

Students took on the Royal Challenge to build the tallest cup castle, celebrated our Students of the Month and Library Students of the Month, and wrapped up with our Royal Raffle! 🎟️ Three lucky students who earned Golden Tickets for demonstrating our RISE traits were selected to choose a prize.

A great time celebrating our students and building excitement around what it means to RISE together! 💙

Last Friday, Romulus 8th grade students joined students from across Seneca County for Civil War Day at Rose Hill Mansion. Students rotated through interactive stations featuring blacksmithing, artillery, infantry, camp music, women spies, Civil War-era food and a tour of the mansion. The tour also explored mourning traditions of the 1800s, with Rose Hill staged in mourning for the death of Otis Swan, a young member of the Swan family. Students also were able to watch Reynolds' Battery company members run through a reenactment of firing a cannon.

Reynolds’ Battery L, 1st NY Light Artillery, includes one of our own- Romulus 8th grader Eli Smith! Social Studies teacher Mr. Litzenberger helped Eli connect with Reynolds’ Battery, giving him the opportunity to become involved with the group and participate in Civil War reenactments.

What a great way to learn beyond the classroom! 🤍💙

📸 What a great "photo finish" shot from the Finger Lakes Times! 🏃‍♂️

Does not get any better than this in high school cross country as the timer read a dead-heat for the 5K event.

🐾 A Familiar Face Is Back for the New School Year! 🐾

Back to school for our students also means the return of another familiar face—and four paws!—as Romulus Superintendent Jenn Hayden’s therapy dog, Dory, begins her new school year routine. ❤️

Dory has been making her rounds through the halls, classrooms, and cafeteria, greeting students, offering comfort, and soaking up plenty of her favorite thing: pets! 🐶

And there’s even a “mini-me” Dory making her own rounds in the elementary school! 🐾

Stay tuned for more about Dory and the important role she plays in our school community in our next newsletter!
