2020 UPA Wolverine Open — Detroit Barbell

In response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation and the recommendations from the state of Michigan, we have decided to suspend Raising Hope 2020. Our top priority is to provide the safest environment possible for all participants and spectators and we are not able to ensure the appropriate social distancing being recommended by the expert authorities that will help slow the spread of coronavirus. We will work with all parties involved to find another date in the future to host our inaugural Raising Hope powerlifting and Olympic lifting meet benefitting HopeKids. Thank you so much for the support that you have already given this event and to HopeKids with your fundraising efforts. We will keep you informed as we make progress towards rescheduling. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this challenging time that we are all facing.

Feb 8, Chuck Vogelpohl seminar has 18/30 people in it paid as of this second. Maybe verbals but it’s first come, first serve. If you want in, message me or PayPal to [email protected], $100. You must use “friends and family” NOT “goods and services”. In the notes, tell me if you want morning or afternoon. Each session is about half full. Spread the word!

Detroit Barbell is hosting a Chuck Vogelpohl seminar on Feb 8. There will be a morning and afternoon session, time is TBD, and will be limited to 15 people each session. They’re both about half full. It is first come, first serve. If you’re interested please PayPal $100 to [email protected] and use “friends and family” NOT “goods and services”. In your notes when you pay please put what session you want, morning or afternoon please.

Detroit Barbell will be hosting Raising Hope on March 21 & 22, 2020 at Schoolcraft College's gymnasium.We will be raising money for Hope Kids. “Hope Kids provides ongoing events, activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-­threatening medical condition.”
This will be held to the same standards as our last 7 years of fundraising meets. This will be a UPA sanctioned meet. It's a Saturday and Sunday so plan your travel accordingly. Please feel free to post here or contact me directly if you're interested in lifting. You will be obligated to raise a minimum of $500 just like past years and no entry fee. There will also be an Olympic lifting completion going on to, details to come. This will be a very kid friendly event. We are expecting 120+ lifters in the past so jump on that train quick to get in.

We will be moving back the date of this meet to not get in the way of the great things Relentless Detroit are doing.

Detroit Barbell will once again be hosting a charity meet this year. Raising Hope will take place on Nov 2, 1 day meet. Same as we’ve done in the past but raising $ for Hope Kids now. If you want in, PM me, text me or post here. The meet is at Taylor High School in Taylor, MI. More details will come later today but post here if you’re interested. You will be obligated to raise $500 minimum to lift instead of paying an entry form. It is UPA sanctioned as always! It will be a 2020 Arnold qualifier. Let’s raise a ton of $ and put up some huge #’s
