WASHINGTON — Nearly 581,000 bottles of a medication used to treat high blood pressure have been recalled after tests revealed potentially cancer-causing chemicals above acceptable safety limits.
Teva Pharmaceuticals issued a voluntary recall for prazosin hydrochloride capsules Oct. 7. It was classified by the FDA as Class II risk level on Oct. 24, which indicates that use of or exposure to the product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

🚨 RECALL ALERT 🚨

Fisher Price recalls Snug Infant Swings due to suffocation risk!!

Between 2012 and 2022, there have been reports of five deaths involving infants 1 to 3 months of age when the product was used for sleep.

Consumers are reminded to never use these products for sleep and to never add blankets or other materials to the swing, even after the headrest and the body support insert have been removed. Parents and caregivers should never use any inclined seated products, such as swings, gliders, soothers, and rockers, for infant sleep and should not leave infants in these products unsupervised, unrestrained, or with bedding material due to the risk of suffocation.

Approximately 2.1 million swings were sold in the United States, about 99,000 swings were sold in Canada and about 500 swings were sold in Mexico.

Consumers should immediately remove both the headrest (by cutting the tether) and the body support insert from the seat pad before continuing to use the swing. Fisher-Price will provide a $25 refund to consumers who remove and destroy the headrest and body support insert. Instructions can be found at www.service.mattel.com.

Just a quick safety reminder with the heat wave that’s sweeping through.

Never leave your child or pet in the car. It only takes minutes in this heat for critically dangerous heat conditions to occur.

Hydrate! Room temperature water helps hydrate and cool the body faster because it doesn’t demand the body to use energy to warm the water. Using body energy to warm the water increases your own body temperature.

Surface safety requires us to think about playground equipment, asphalt, and other materials we come in contact with outside. Use the back of your hand to check temperature before using playground equipment, sitting on a park bench, etc. Asphalt will become very hot and can cause serious burns to skin, including pet paws.

Garden hose safety! Remind yourself and family that the water that first comes out of a garden hose that’s been laying in the heat and sun can be very hot and can cause burns.

Where sun screen, don’t forget your water, and stay safe out there!
