💼 Summer Internship Spotlight 💼

Meet Luke Pekol, who is spending his summer as a Finance Intern at G&W Electric Co.!

This summer, Luke has been supporting the company's finance team through accounts receivable and payable processes, financial reporting, and projects that help improve business decision-making. Along the way, he's gained valuable experience seeing how finance plays an important role in the success of a global organization.

One of Luke's favorite parts of the internship has been putting classroom knowledge into practice while collaborating with professionals across different departments. Working together to solve real business challenges has helped him grow both personally and professionally.

His biggest takeaway?
Communication and teamwork are key. Building strong relationships, maintaining open communication, and learning from others have shown Luke just how important collaboration is in the workplace.

Luke says the Lewis University College of Business prepared him for this opportunity by providing a strong foundation in finance and accounting while helping him develop the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to succeed.

🎨 Summer Internship Spotlight 🎨

Meet Valeria Galicia, who is spending her summer as a Sales and Management Intern at Sherwin-Williams!

This summer, Valeria has been gaining hands-on experience supporting store operations, assisting customers, participating in sales representative ride-alongs, and working on a business project focused on improving customer engagement and store performance.

Her favorite part of the experience?

The people. From day one, the supportive team at Sherwin-Williams has helped her grow professionally by sharing their knowledge, encouraging questions, and creating an environment where learning happens every day.

One lesson that's stayed with her throughout the internship is the importance of embracing change. Every new customer, project, and challenge has been an opportunity to learn, adapt, and become a stronger future business leader.

Valeria says the Lewis University College of Business prepared her for this opportunity through classroom learning, involvement in Women in Business, and networking opportunities that helped build the confidence to step outside her comfort zone and pursue new experiences.

🚂 Summer Internship Spotlight 🚂

Meet Ramiro Regalado, a Supply Chain Management student who is spending his summer as a Transportation Intern at BNSF Railway!

Working at BNSF's Cicero Intermodal Terminal, Ramiro has been collaborating with terminal leadership, analyzing operational data, supporting improvement projects, and learning how one of the country's largest freight rail networks operates.

One of his favorite experiences has been visiting terminals throughout the Chicago Division. Seeing how each location operates differently has given him a new appreciation for the complexity of the railroad industry and the teamwork that keeps everything moving.

One of the biggest lessons he's taking away from the summer is the importance of communication, collaboration, and adaptability. Every day has reinforced that successful operations depend on people working together to solve challenges and keep business moving.

Ramiro says his experience at the Lewis University College of Business provided the strong foundation in supply chain management, communication, and problem-solving that prepared him to succeed in a fast-paced professional environment.

Throwback to the 2025 Reverend Kevin Spiess Lecture Series ✨🤖

This year’s discussion on “Navigating Ethical Issues with AI in Business” brought together students, faculty, alumni, and community members for an engaging conversation on one of the most important topics shaping the future of business.

With more than 200 attendees, the Romeoville lecture and Q&A became the largest Spiess Lecture in university history — a milestone moment for the College of Business. 🎉

A special thank you to Scott Likens ’96, Chief AI Engineer at PwC, for sharing his expertise and inspiring our community to think critically about the ethical opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence.

Events like these reflect our commitment to preparing future business leaders to navigate an ever-evolving world with curiosity, integrity, and purpose.

Fernanda recently earned her MBA from Lewis University with concentrations in Business Analytics and Project Management, while also being recognized with the MBA Award for Scholastic Achievement & Service Excellence for her exceptional academic performance, leadership, and service.

✨ Summer Internship Spotlight ✨

This week we're highlighting Marc Kirby, who is spending his summer as a Client Development & Sales Intern at CME Group.

From supporting sales initiatives and client projects to learning how global derivatives markets operate, Marc has immersed himself in every opportunity to grow. But what has stood out most isn't just the work—it's the people.

Meeting with leaders across the organization, asking questions, and seeing how different teams work together has given him a broader perspective on the financial industry and reinforced the importance of staying curious.

One piece of advice has guided him throughout the summer:
💡 "You know what you don't know."

That mindset has encouraged Marc to embrace every learning opportunity, ask questions with confidence, and continue growing professionally each day.

Marc says the Lewis University College of Business prepared him for this experience through a strong finance education and involvement in the Investment Club and Delta Sigma Pi, where he developed the leadership and communication skills that have helped him succeed during his internship.
