Today we are celebrating National Custodian Appreciation Day and three very special people, Ms. Teresa, Mr. Anthony, and Ms. Pam! We are SO lucky to have them at APS and beyond thankful for the hard work, care, and dedication they give our school every single day. They do so much to make APS shine, and today we hope they know just how appreciated they truly are! Please help us celebrate and thank them for ALL they do! 💙🤍🎉

Mrs. Davis’s 2nd graders are LOVING their Wonder Exchange Labs! After spending the week reading “Yeh-Shen-a Cinderella story from China”, students discovered that their class mascot, Winston, had mixed up all of the story events! Each student received an event card, and they had to work together to put themselves and the story back in the correct order.
Students used their understanding of the story to sequence the events and then explored cause and effect by discussing how one event can lead to another.
Such a fun way to bring reading to life! 📖📚

On Tuesday, our Pre-K classes went on a field trip to the Children’s Museum of Rome! They had a GREAT day full of hands-on learning and playing together! We are so excited to have this wonderful new place for children and families right here in our community! 🚌✨

Our first graders took their learning about characters to a whole new level last week! As an extension of Benchmark Unit 2, “Many Kinds of Characters,” students analyzed the Big Bad Wolf’s character traits in The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood and completed Venn diagrams to compare the similarities and differences between the wolf in both stories.

Then, the investigation continued! Students built houses to see if the wolf could blow them down, created wanted posters, and even took the Big Bad Wolf to court! Students made cases for both sides and wrote letters to the judge explaining whether they believed the wolf was guilty or not guilty. After hearing all the evidence, the judge made the final ruling… GUILTY! 🐷🏠🐺⚖️

What a fun way to bring reading, writing, critical thinking, and creativity together! 💙📚

Congratulations to our September Students of the Month! 💙🤍 This month’s character word was SELF-CONTROL, and we are so proud of these students for showing what it means to make good choices and setting a great example for others! 👏

We’re also excited to congratulate Mrs. Hullender, our September Staff Member of the Month! 🎉 Mrs. Hullender has jumped right in at APS and does a wonderful job making learning fun and meaningful while building strong connections with her students. We are so happy to have her as part of our APS family! 💙

Tonight, we had our Fall Family STEM night and our APS families packed the school for an evening of fun, learning, and time together! From the Book Fair to hands-on STEM stations like Seeing Sound, Mystery Bag, Pumpkin Roll, Sink or Float, LEGO STEM, Rocket Launching, and more, there was so much to explore! 📚🎃🚀
A big THANK YOU to the Children’s Museum of Rome of for partnering with us for such a great family night, Bennett Orthodontics for the fun photo booth, Lazy Creek Farms for donating beautiful fall decor, and His Race BBQ food truck for coming out! 🍁📸
Most of all, thank you to our APS families for spending the evening with us, and to our awesome teachers and staff for all of the hard work that went into making tonight possible! We loved seeing our school filled with so many smiling faces! We’ll draw for our Children’s Museum ticket winners during morning announcements tomorrow! 🎟️

👻 Trunk or Treat will be here before we know it!
We will start taking candy donations starting Monday, October 5th and will collect through the morning of Trunk or Treat!
The grade with the most candy will get to go through the line twice! 🎃
