After traveling from Rome to Alabama, Pennsylvania, Canada, and back again, a rare 1863 Decker Brothers square piano, known within the Shorter family simply as “the Shorter piano,” has returned to Thornwood after more than a century away.

Donated by Monro B. Lanier III and Martha Shorter Dougherty, direct descendants of Alfred and Martha Baldwin Shorter, this piece of living history is now on display for the entire Shorter community to enjoy.

Shorter University is excited to announce Noah Huckaby as our new Vice President of Information Technology! 💙👏

Since joining Shorter in 2007, Noah has faithfully served our campus with excellence, leadership, and a true servant’s heart. From Admissions to IT leadership, he has made a lasting impact on students, faculty, and staff alike.

Known across campus as someone you can always count on, Noah has helped strengthen and guide Shorter’s technology systems while leading with wisdom, humility, and care.

We are grateful for Noah’s continued leadership and excited for all that lies ahead in this new role. Please join us in congratulating Noah! 🎉

Tom (‘80) and Janice (‘81) joined us for a trip down memory lane! We love when our alumni stop by to visit campus!

Yesterday, we celebrated the recipients of our annual Alumni Association scholarship awards. These awards are given to students nominated by faculty/staff and selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Alumni Association Board. The Board awarded over $7,000 to recipients Jack Bell, Makayla Crimm, and Mary Grace Lemmings.💙🎓

⭐️Carol Williams Kirby Alumni Service Scholarship
Jack Bell is a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. Jack will serve as Upper Boys’ Residence Director in the fall in addition to being the secretary for the Shorter Side Stitches improv team.

⭐️Carol Williams Kirby Alumni Leadership Scholarship
Makayla Crimm is a junior pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Makayla has led within Shorter Orientation Staff, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Residence Life, Phi Mu, and BCM Council.

⭐️Leon Staples Jr. Memorial Alumni Scholarship
Mary Grace Lemmings is a senior pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Education. Following graduation, she will continue her studies at Shorter to earn a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction while teaching 7th and 8th Grade Math at Armuchee.

We appreciate these students as they continue their time and commitment to Shorter University!🎉
