On Thursday, Dr. Sandeep Mazumder, president of Berry College, spoke about his background growing up in England, and how he came to America to study at the suggestion of his father. He and his wife served Baylor just prior to their relocation to Rome so that Dr. Mazumder could assume leadership of Berry. Their two sons are now attending BCEMS at Berry College. Dr. Mazumder told us about the strategic platform he is is leading for Berry, including expanding scholarship opportunities for students, strengthening leadership and character development, signature learning experiences such as study abroad and internships, and highest-best-use of Berry's abundant land resources. Prior to his talk, Berry College Campbell School of Business Dean Dr. Lauren Heller and Bob Reimer, director of the Berry Center for Integrity in Leadership, introduced the president.

In addition, Rotarian Frank Barron was recognized by Rotary International President Francesco Arezao for 70 years of membership and service. Rotary District 6910 Governor Jessica Fleetwood presented Frank with a personal letter of congrations from President Arezao.

There was a large gathering in support of Dr. Mazumder and Governor Fleetwood, with more than 60 in attendance, including past District Governor Bill Strickland.

Kate Sibery Daggett won President Douglas Walker's trivia contest of the week.

Last week GA Rivers expert Joe Cook provided a fascinating talk about how the uses and protections for our rivers have changed over the decades. He even gave us the background on where the term "40 acres and a mule" came from. We also celebrated our newest Paul Harris Society member, Doug Walker, with a special presentation by Rotary District 6910's Paul Harris Society chair, Rick Parker. Other Paul Harris honorees included Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman and Matt Maslanka (plus 1) and Al Hodge and Doug Walker (plus 2).
