We are so proud of Charlie!
A Vietnam War veteran just earned his college degree at 81.
Charley Whaley dropped out of high school more than six decades ago before serving 23 years in the U.S. Navy. Inspired by his family, he enrolled at a local college, learned how to navigate computers, and spent years working toward a goal he'd never forgotten.
"I wanted to see if I could do it. And I did."

Congratulations to this year's NWGA LEAD cohort on completing a year of leadership development, collaboration and professional growth!
Through this unique partnership among Georgia Highlands College, Dalton State College, Chattahoochee Technical College and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, participants gained valuable leadership experience while working together to strengthen workforce development and student success across Northwest Georgia.
GHC students are gearing up for the summer classes of a lifetime! Students pursuing a Bachelor's in Environmental and Natural Resources or an Associate Degree in Biology are soon leaving for Wyoming to explore Yellowstone National Park and more, experiencing semi-arid grasslands, wetlands, lava fields, glaciated peaks, volcanic plateaus, and forested mountains.
And the coolest part? They're getting college credit!
Stay tuned for videos and photos like this one from a previous trip.
